They also have two leather cases on the same site - look interesting.

Would a metal case like the one pointed out from pdair not effect your RF performance?

I had a case for my 7100g, and it did impact reception a little, but the added protection was worth it. I use mine mainly for email, very little phone use.

This does look like the innopocket aluminum case I bought for my 7290; if not from them, then this is a serious "homage" (i.e. rip off). That case I had did seriously affect my otherwise strong BB reception (Cingular), so I stopped using it. Unlike this one, however, there were no cutouts on the front - perhaps that will help reception... Still, I'm gun shy about metal cases now.

Looks like a Rhinoskin type of casing. Seems promising especially the plastic cover over the screen. But cases that clip onto my belt with the screen and keyboard facing away from me always scares me. I've bumped my berry many times against my desk and seatbelt lock in the car, but luckily the screen was facing in towards me while in the holster.

Bought it. Nice fit, good quality.....but it dropped my reception down by 2 bars. At home where I only have 2 bars most of the time I got "NO Service". Sending it back. What a shame.

yeah I got it too.. dropped reception 1 bar on my end... case is nicely designed... though a tad bulky.

I think I may just stick with the invisibleshield screen protector and carry it bare in my pocket.

Used metal cases from both Innopocket and PDAir for my previous PDA phones (non-Blackberry). They definitely affect/decrease RF performance. The last one I had with HP hw6515 caused the GPS signal to jump all over the screen so I ditched it.
Since dropping metal cases as my favorite way of protection, I like the Krusell Cases. They generally have a pretty thick see-through plastic shetting above the faces of phones and the over-all construction doesn't add any bulkiness to the PDA - which is a plus.

Edit: The case I talked about is only available for 7290. This style is not currently available for 8700 series.

i'm seriously waiting until boxwave releases the 8700c cases.. god i love boxwave. i had the "armor case" for my 7100g and it worked perfectly. i never had a problem with signal.

http://www.boxwave.com/products/armo...-7100g_596.htm
i'm just waiting, but that case looks very promising.

Default PDAir Metal case pics

I just got the PDAir case for my BB8700r.
It certainly makes my BB look HUGE. Also, if you look at pictures 4 and 5, you can see big gaps between the case and the keyboard area. Maybe if they streamline the case a bit, it might look better.

from those pictures, that's what i call an abomination.

What has your blackberry done so wrong to you that you would put that crap on it?

I agree that it is indeed a scary sight to behold. I only kept it in the case to take pics. It is now in its "naked" glory...so much better. Ah, the elusive quest for the perfect case.
