Default Motorola IHF1000 Carkit and 8700c Problem

Please Login to Remove!

I am having a problem with the 8700c and the Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth carkit. (This is the new vehicle unit with voice dialing):

When you RECEIVE a call and go "offhook" using the BUTTON ON THE CARKIT, the audio does not work in either direction (you answer the call, but neither party can hear each other).

When you do the same thing using the green button on the 8700c to answer, it all works fine.

The kit worked great with my 7290. I have tried re-pairing the devices, but still have the same problem.

Has anyone else had this specific problem? Can anyone with this combination try this out and advise if they can duplicate the problem.

Thanks!

I have the exact same problem. The problem is not unique to the 8700c. I has the same thing with my treo. If you find a solution I'd love to know.

TURN OFF the encryption for the bluetooth....

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on

Goto Options / Bluetooth

Highlight the entry for IHF1000 and click for Device Properties

Should be :
trusted-yes
Encryption-off
Echo Cancellation-on

That should do it.

I am glad to see this thread here as I am planing to get a BT car kit. It is between this or the parrot 3100 or the 3200. I like the Parrot for the Display but I have not seen anything on those 2 with the 8700. Now as to the Moto, Aside from teh issue above, is Voice dialing in full effect on this with the 8700? I have not been able tofind a place that has it as a demo to try it. if any one knows about teh parrot being also compatible it would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The Moto kit is fully compatible with the 8700. 20 local contacts can be stored in the carkit. Voice Digital dial works (ie. "call 4045551212, Dial"). Dialing from the keypad on the 8700 is supported. Announced caller ID works.

A couple other modes that the 8700 doesn't have is voice tag dial because the 8700 doesn't store them. Speed Dial because the 8700 formats those differently.

The CK3100 works with the 8700 as well.

Actually... Speed dial works on my 8700. I store the speeddial on the Blackberry. Then do the voice command "Speeddial" on the Car kit. Works for speedial 1-9 not sure about others.

I will check on the "encryption" item above and advise. Thanks for all of the great information!

So it will not take the letter speed dial? I already have the a to z programed into it. I am begining to like the Parrot more as it has the interactive voice dial. Also hopefully http://www.mobilevoicecontrol.com/ will come out with the solution to other BBs that are not nextel (at least they said that they are evaluating it).

Sorry I didn't mean to say that NONE of them work.... You are correct 0-9 do work the letters do not because the IHF1000 doesn't understand them.

rcg:

I gave the "turn off encryption" trick a try and still have the same problem with the answer button.

Can you try the specific scenario that I gave above and see if you do/do not have the problem.

I'm trying to figure out if the problem if I am getting the "normal" response or if I have a hardware/software problem with either unit.

Again, thanks for the info.

Happy Holidays!

Scooters - I tested the scenario you give above and our (my) 8700 is working with my IHF1000. I will test again toggling encryption on and off and see what effect happens.

I've tried pairing and unpairing, encrypting and unencrypting to no avail. It looks like wallyn is having the same problem. Others who have the same combination, please post and let us know.

Here is the info on a couple of other kits:

Parrot: No Problems

Older Motorola "full install" CarKit: Has the same pairing problem that the 7290 did. You must disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth each time for it to pair properly.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I can't comment on the Motorola, but I can say that the Parrot CK3100 works great!!! I had it professionally installed last week and spent an hour this morning learning how it works, and it's fantastic. It has almost complete hands-free capabilities, including voice recognition. When I paired it with my 8700c, it automatically downloaded the addressbook, and then I trained it to do voice recognition. So, I say "phone" it prepares to dial, I give it a name that I have trained and it dials the number, I say "hang-up" and it hangs-up. The only thing it cannot do that I would like is to dial a number if I were to speak the digits... apparently, the Motorola can do that. With the Parrot, you can dial a new number using the console, and it can be done without taking your eyes off the road, but you have to use the dial on the console and the "console-voice" announces the digit as you scroll through.

Question 8700c and the IHF1000 Answer Problem

I just had my IHF1000 installed today. EVERYTHING works perfectly EXCEPT for answering a call on the User Interface Module. A call comes in, it is announced, I press the answer (green) key and you can partially hear the voice say that the call has ended and it drops the call. Any help would be appreciated. I tried turning encryption off etc. I love both the 8700c and the IHF1000 but I need to answer calls. Thanks in advance

I was thinking of buying a IHF1000 on ebay, are these locked to certain models, I see some of them say "for V3 RAZOR" etc.......or will they work with any phone?

I have had the Parrot CK3100 for about a month now.

IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do a search and you will find I left info on cables to help with the install. I did it myself in 2 hours.

TX1C - That is the problem that I have been reporting. Try the same thing by pressing the answer key on the BB, not the car kit. It should work.... let us know.

Brad00111- They are not locked to a model. That is just a way that the billboard their product to be found during a search. See notes above on some problems with the 8700 and the IHF1000. I still really like mine. I keep my BB in a proclip on the dash so answering on the BB is not a problem.

The Parrot is a really good kit as well. I have both.

Default Still does not work

I turned off the Bluetooth encryption and got the IHF1000 answer button to actually work for a couple of days, but now it's back to not working. Of course I can answer the phone using the button on the 8700c, but that defeats the main point of the IHF1000.

And yes, I have checked to be sure that Bluetooth encryption has not magically turned itself back on. Anyone out there figure this one out yet?
