Default Password Storage

Anyone use an encrypted password storage app that they like? I'm looking for one to keep all my password, banking, insurance, etc info handy.

Thanks

Magmic has one here: http://www.magmic.com/midlets/passwords.zip

And Delineo has a really nice one here: http://shop.delineo.de/cgi-bin/vshop...m.0.1093536804 (it might be session based, so just head to the front page)

I like eSafe by Dynoplex. I got in before they had a desktop version, and saved $10. The desktop version is nice, as you can do all of your work on the PC, then transfer it to the device. I like that, especially when you first install and have hundreds of passwords to enter.

The drawbacks are that you cannot sort the list, it is currently listed as you enter it. Apparently they are working on that for a future release.

Overall a good program: http://www.dynoplex.com/eSafe.shtml

Thanks for the suggestions. I've got copies of all now and will play with them this weekend to see which works best for me.

Version 4.0 of BlackberryOS has a password vault program built into it. It is not as full featured as some advanced password management software, but it does the job in the usual Blackberry simplicity -- you enter a master password and you're able to enter the software that allows you to view/edit a list of description/password pairs (you can also store PIN, credit card, SSN, WiFi keys, login ID's, etc)

This is good news for me. I would love to store this stuff in my BBY, but I'm not so sure I want my server admin at the office able to peer into my notes folder and grab credit card numbers.

What would be *really* nice is an autofill based upon the info in the vault, kind of how Google Tooolbar for the PC works.

And the survey says..... Passwords by Magmic

I tried esafe first as the ability to enter info through the PC was appealing. Downloaded the trial copy but could not install due to a version requirement check. The installer checks the version of desktop, 3.6.2.9 in my case, against the version of the handheld, 3.7.1.36 in my case, and decides that since they are "different" that I am "missing" software and it will not continue until I update/downgrade one or the other. Needless to say, I gave up after two tries.

My next trial was Magmic, which was chosen due to their reputation here. It installed easily, set up easily, and allows description, user id, password, and comment storage for each entry. This is exactly what I was looking for, except for desktop entry, so I stopped installing and started thumbing my data.

Thanks for everyone's help/suggestions.

Jeevz,

You misunderstood the requirement - there is no mismatch between versions, you're simply missing the handheld software to be installed on your PC. Handheld Software is not the same as Desktop Manager - if you check in Desktop Manager under Help->About->Handheld Software, on your PC you will see empty space. You need to have the line for handheld software there, which will appear after you install in on your PC.

Is there a reason that magmic would work and not require the handheld software. I've had some bad experience's with dynoplex's esafe before. Could never get it to work. I also used magmic aswell as it was so much easier to use and configure.

The reason we need handheld software is that advanced BB API's are not available in the standard desktop package. I do not think installing handheld software from RIM is such a big deal - in any case this is what you will do when you upgrade your device. Sooner or later you would want to do it, as RIM is constantly adding features to the OS. To install the upgrade you need to download and install the handheld software, which is then picked up by AppLoader.

In case you had some other problems - drop me an e-mail and I will help.

Beta version of eZcase is now available for testing at http://www.dynoplex.com/files/update..._1.138.010.exe.

Version highlights include:

1. Support for system fonts - use File->Options to change font.
2. Support for sorting and filtering
3. Creation of new record types
4. Field name changes even on individual record level
5. Quick find similar to BB address book

Multiple other improvements to the desktop and device code. Feedback is very welcome.

Sergey

LOVE the upgrades to eZcase. the FIND feature is awesome!!!

How can I get a sort to stay? Say if I want to sort ASC by NAME, so they list A-Z. The next time I go in they are jumbled up again.

Also, are you gonna keep the beta links coming or possibly set up a link on your website for new betas so we know when they are ready?

I have been a registered user for about 8 months and LOVE the program. The changes are making it even better.

Thanks

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff! We will see about the links, i will either post it here or get a link on the site.

We have the issue of lost sort order on the list, hope to get in by the release date, which is coming soon.

Sergeyd, Are you going to allow a free form note field, like CM has. That's a useful field.
