Angry Bold 9700 Battery Drains quickly

Please Login to Remove!

I am experiencing very quick draining of my Bold 9700 battery even if I don't use much the phone. Its only a month old phone and I am not a big user. The strange thing is that even when it has 3 bars available at night, its gone by the morning time. Is there any thing wrong with my settings? Just to clarify. this draining issue has surfaced since one week, it was ok before that. Can some one help me pl!!

What have you changed in the interim? Have you upgraded the OS? Have you added apps? Have you changed other settings (Bluetooth, wifi)? How is your 3G signal most of the time? Is it pretty consistent, or is it up and down? If you are on the fringe of an 3G area, that can caused battery drain as the phone is seeking a 3G connection.

Basically, something has to have changed to cause this issue... review your actions and see what has been changed/updated to see if you can find the culprit. As I said, it could also be a network thing...

I am having the same issue with the Bold 9700 battery, Ive had it for less than a month and the battery drains so quickly. I went to Tmobile to get it changed and they did. Have had it for one day and it is still doing the same thing. I am going to have to turn off some of the apps I use I guess.

try upgrading the OS to the newest one online (not necessarily the current at&t version). I have found that makes a HUGE difference on these 9700s

good luck!

check what you have running in the background.

For me, my battery doesnt drain that much until I run Beejive, it drain from full to empty in an hour. However, some people doesnt have this problem with beejive.

I find the battery life on the 9700 excellent. There are definitely things you can do to improve battery life. If you're using your phone a lot to make calls that will be the biggest drain. Update to the latest OS which will make a difference. Exit programs when you are finished using them, don't just close them which leaves them running in the background. Also be sure to check out this Maximum Battery Life - BlackBerryFAQ.

On a recent trip, I got a rental car with Bluetooth - I don't use this at home and it worked great - BUT - the battery on my phone drained quickly. I've since learned to turn off the Bluetooth when I'm not using it. I think that leaving the Bluetooth on the phone drained it as it kept looking for a device to pair with.

Also, if you have Google Maps (or similar) running in the background, end/close it. The GPS feed can drain the battery.

As a rule of thumb, I use the Switch Application and make sure only the defaults appear there (Messages, Messenger, Phone, Home Screen, Browser, Visual Voicemail).

I think it also drains quicker if you are in area of poor service as it's always trying to find a signal.

Good luck.

I'm actually pretty happy with the battery life as compared to my 8310. I'm usually at 80% or greater after a full day, and that's with constant use of Pandora and pretty frequent use of Google maps ,as well as having WiFi enabled for most of the day.

With the obvious exception of Wifi useage, running these same apps on my 8310 and other normal daily use, I would be at less than 25% by the end of the day.

Aside from closing down applications, I follow the majority of the FAQ and use the magnet case, so I'm sure that it all just works itself out. All in all, I've experienced outstanding battery life, so I've really got no complaints.
