Default keep appointments field... missing?

Please Login to Remove!

hello
I m having trouble with my 8100
in the calendar, options, there s supposed to be a KEEP APPOINTMENTS FIELD so to be able to adjust to how long I want it to store calendar data. It even says so in the manual, but ... no keep appointments field. I m using desktop manager 4.2 .
Can anyone help please?

The only thing I can think of is IT policy. Is your blackberry second hand, or did you buy it new?

Otherwise, maybe there's just some glitch. A hard reset -- with power on, remove battery for about 30 seconds -- fixes most weird stuff that happens. Try that if you haven't already. You won't lose data.

Find and open options from your applications screen. Select security options, then general settings. Scroll down to services. What do you see entered there?

Just curious, what exactly do you see under services? Can you reproduce it here?

It doesn't matter what you are doing now. If the blackberry was on a BES prior to you acquiring it, it would have an IT policy on it unless it were removed.

I'm also curious what you are doing with regard to email, and how that could bear on the entries under services.

under services :

Desktop[a.tsamitrou@tellas...

(i am not using dots to hide info, its actually what i see)

to answer your second question .. I have no idea! when i connected it to my pc it I recieved an email, from blackberry, it said to save it so I did nt delete, but it has dissapeared mysteriously! I dont know how this has happened! But previous user did not set bes before, or so he says....
there was a similar post with the same problem in this forum, dated 2007 but is closed now so i dont know what happened there....

When you installed desktop manager, did you select the redirector option. I don't know anymore what you see when you install, or if the redirector option is still there. Anyway, I'm guessing that's what you did.

As far as you not having the keep appointments field in options, I'm stumped. There's something about this I don't know.

All I can advise is remove the battery again a wait a good couple of minutes. I have read of cases here on the forum where the first battery pull did not correct a problem, but the 2nd or 3rd did, or it took longer than 30 seconds to do the job.

I don't know if it matters for you right now. If/when you get BIS, then you'll want to correct the setup.

If you want to undo it now and see what happens, run the desktop manager installer again. You may have the option to change the setup/settings, but you can definitely select uninstall. If you uninstall, then reboot and install again.

As I say, though, I really don't know why you don't see the field. I'm stumped.

It's not going to hurt. But I think pull it again and wait a good minute. I realy don't think more than that is going to make any difference.

Alright I will uninstall / install again....
I performed a wipe handheld option last week, so I dont think previous owners settings are no longler on my device.
If something changes I ll post it so people can see. But it seems to me like an os problem.
Since the keep appointments field is in the trouble shooter + manual loaded on the device, it should be there. hidden perhaps , but there.

Fyi for the future, a security wipe will not remove an IT policy. It doesn't sound like you have an IT policy, but just want to correct any misconceptions.
