I have a Blackberry Curve (8330) from Verizon and I'm currently running Desktop Manager v5.0.1 on a new installation of Windows 7 Pro (x64). I have never had a problem connecting my blackberry to the software on XP or even Vista ( ) and but now some reason every time I try and plug it in via USB the computer recognizes the device, but the Desktop Manager software will try to start the sync process and drop the connection every time. I've tried connecting via bluetooth as well, it will pair correctly with the desktop, but it will start and stop right away every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have tried to uninstall the Desktop software, reinstall it, restarted the phone several times (hard resets) but still no luck!

I've also tried several cables and even the laptop (but that also has Windows 7 (Home)). . .I'm beginning to think this has something to do with compatibility in Windows 7 maybe?

Windows 7 is too new and is not properly vetted to work with third-party solutions like BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Microsoft needs to step up on this kind of thing. The ball is in their court.
