Default Spontaneous Complete Reset

Please Login to Remove!

I had an odd occurrence today - my 9530 (vzw w/ .328) spontaneously reset everything. All my data wiped - email, contacts, calendar. All my 3rd party programs were still there, but reset to their "just installed" mode: No reg codes. No preferences. No nothin'.

Fortunately, I had a backup from three weeks ago (insert admonition to do your backups!), so nothing truly terrible happened, just very tedious resetting my apps that don't back up and restore cleanly. I was traveling, though, and was pretty dead in the water all day.

(Is there any easy way to get gmail to resend those three weeks of messages?)

I was using apps I've been using for ages, except Opera Mini 5 beta 2 (which I've been using without any other trouble since its release). I've been using BB's for years without anything like this happening. Any idea what did happen?

I do think I'll start backing up a bit more often than every two or three weeks, though.

thanks,

-jk

Just for reference, see http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ml#post1530852 .

Regarding google, you could try moving your old emails out of the inbox (if that is where they are) and then move them back into the inbox. I don't know if that will work or not. I works on Yahoo, as I recall, and that's what made me think of it.

Just FWIW, dc's case is the only other one besides you that I personally know about. That beta has my vote as the cause of the problem.

Also, I'd set DM to automatically backup on a daily interval.

Thanks for the link; nice to see I'm not completely alone! And, yes, I'll be backing up a lot more!

Were you able to cause your old email to be re-sent?

Give an update when you get the chance. Wonderng if it will happen again; or if removing that beta app is the cure.

I've been traveling, and haven't had a chance to try it. I'll let you know later this week.

thanks,
