hey..
the bbm on my blackberry bold 9000 was working properly this morning, i received a msg and read it but the icon that appears on the top left of the screen which indicated that u have a new bbm msg or chat is still there :s
i checked again and again and closed all the bbm chats but the icon is still showing on the top left of the screen, i even turned off the device and removed the battery but whenever i turn it on that chat icon is still appearing.. can u plzzzz help me with that?

Try removing the battery whilst the device is still powered on.

Are you sure you don't have a pending request i.e a friend added you, etc.

Do you have any BBM Groups? Sometimes I have a notification icon for a BBM Group simply due to an update of one of the group members (like a status change or something lame). I simply open all the Groups and then the notification goes away.
