Default Tour 3g speeds

I am getting about 677kbitsdown on my Tour on the Verizon Network in my area acording to the Speedtest app on my phone. I noticed that some people claim to get 1.8 mb, where does the difference come from? My phone says 1XEV on it.

Average 3G on GSM or CDMA is 400 to 900 kbps. CDMA max is about 2.4 mbps and GSM is about 3.6 mbps. I would say that you are in the ballpark.

Your speed depends on many factors, most of which are outside of your control. Some are: the device, the device processor, device memory, the connection itself, your distance to the tower and tower congestion. For a true test between devices you need to be side by side, going to the same site, and even that can be suspect.

If it makes anyone feel better, here is my speedtest result... definitely doesn't feel like 3G to me...

Just did another test in another area.... download speed has improved almost ten-fold!! Upload still snail-like though.
