OK. And, do you have an active BlackBerry Data Plan on your mobile provider account?

The error reads like this?
Quote:
To enjoy the latest functionality from the selected BlackBerry® Device Software Upgrade, you'll need an active BlackBerry® service subscription
You will see this issue if you do not have a data plan on your BlackBerry and you try to use Desktop Manager 5.0 to upgrade to BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 or greater.

Sorry, it's required now.

and... what if i dont want to use the DM, should i use the ''Loader'' and delete the Vendor.xml

i tried it on three pc's; two running on Windows 7 (one professional one home premium) and one running on Windows Vista ultimate...

wich OS are you using? (should i try it at XP?)

don't know if this helps...

now i get the error wich sais that the loader doesn't have any FW updates for my blackberry model... but is EXACTLY the same model als the firmware is created for. the DM does reconize my bb and wants to instal V5.0, but this isnt possible because i haven't got a data plan..

anny suggestions

Mine is XP.
It doesn't matter which PC or system, just try doing the upgrade with loader.exe

ok.

Remember, you'll very likely need the BlackBerry Data Plan to perform the OS 5 upgrade.
