Default Can't download files greater than 30MB...

Please Login to Remove!

*** I've tried searching the forums to try and get an answer but ONLY saw issues related to work phones (on BES). This is a personal phone and NOT ON BES. ****

I am able to download a mp3 file via the blackberry browser on a website without any issues but when I try and download a larger mp3 file for a podcast that is greater than 30MB, I get the "HTTP ERROR 413: ENTITY TOO LARGE" error. This is even with a large SD card installed (2GB).

I've talked to Verizon tech support and they swear there isn't a limit set on their end. They tell me it's blackberry. I've called blackberry tech support and they state that it's the carrier setting restrictions.

Can anyone help me understand what the issue is and how (or if) I can fix with a setting change??

Thanks in advance!

Max size for downloading files via email or web browser is 2.9 MB. You can download the file in question (greater than 2.9 MB) to your pc and drag/drop it onto the memory card.

Hey thanks for the information. Makes me wonder why the blackberry tech support didn't know that.

The 2.9mb limitation is pretty well known around here.

I wonder how you got the 30MB file?

And actually I replied in haste before because I was just going through my media files and realized that I downloaded several video files from a music website that are between 13 to 20MB in size. So your 2.9MB is not accurate. Are you talking about BES perhaps? Because the video files were downloaded via the internet browser on the phone.

Are you sure they were downloaded via the web browser? Perhaps they were transferred to your BB via the Desktop Manager and Media Manager? Downloading a 12 MB file would be quite a feat.

I also make mistakes with decimal places, so what I think is a 30 MB file could quite possibly be a 3.0 MB file.

I understand your skepticism but it was done through the browser on the phone. I have the Tour on the 4.7.whatever OS. The downloaded video file is from kcrw.com/music/programs/ti. Each one averages around 15 to 20MB.
