There are drawbacks to both in my opinion. I mainly use the phone app to send quick messages & upload photos on the go. Later I might use my Mac to check out how the photos look @ the site & edit if need be. Yes, it is faster to upload photos with the computer but if you want it to show "then & there" the phone app will do.

for clarification, when I refer to facebook via the internet, I'm referring to the browser on the device, not the computer. My wife now accesses facebook via the BB browser, so am wondering what the diff is between that and the app.

I have the mobile app installed, mainly so I get notifications of wall posts, direct messages, etc. It integrates the notifications (if desired) into your messages folder, and also gives a homescreen notification in the banner. The app can also sync contacts and calendar with FB.

The native BB Browser struggles with the formatting of the regular html facebook page, and is more useful for the mobile page (m.facebook.com I think?), which is a watered-down version of the normal page. I generally use Bolt or Opera Mini to browse facebook, as those browsers do a fair job of rendering the regular html page as it appears on a computer.

The mobile app (although it is getting better with each update) gives you a more watered-down view of your facebook page. But, as I mentioned, I like the notifications, so I keep it installed.

Also, as mentioned above, the mobile app is a little faster if you just want to put up a quick status update, or upload a picture...

Finally, I also use SocialScope to keep track of Facebook (and Twitter).

The app is free, you (or your wife) can just try it out and see for yourself...

This. I use the FB app so I can make my phone light up/buzz when someone replies to my status updates, messages me, etc. It's also a handy shortcut.

I imagine if I wanted to post a photo I'd taken with my BB, the app would also be quicker.

However, when I want to read through FB I still launch the web app because I prefer the formatting (Menu > Go to Mobile Site from inside the FB app).

I find it's also a lot easier to type in the app then on the mobile web version. I find that the Storm's typing in text boxes online isn't very good.

I find the app to be painfully slow. I just use the web version when I need to look at something. Otherwise I update my status via SMS, upload pics via MMS ,and also receive updates from people and replies to my comments via SMS as well.

The things I like about the App are 1. Notifications 2. Contact Sync (with birthdays and photos) 3. Ease of use (Don't have to wait for web pages to load).

That's all I can think of for now.
