I would use another excuse, like maybe your dog ate your homework, or your car won't start, or you can't find your lucky socks.

do what i did. i had UPS deliver my BB to my work place. Today even before i got to work it was already delivered and signed for by my Boss. Reached work and for first 2 hours i was with my lovely BB 9700. I love it.
