I have two curves, a pink one and a silver one.

I am switching from the silver to the pink (dont ask)

The trackball in the pink one was kind of suspect, so I poped it out and swapped it with the silver one (which I am going to no longer use).

The silver trackball wouldnt work with the pink phone? It didnt go in very well, and would only go up and down (yes I read the cleaning thread)

I tried to dissamble the pink ball to clean it and failed, so I have a new one coming. it barely works left right.

If I wanted to swap the 'guts' of the 8330 with the other one (specifically, the top board with the LCD, keyboard, etc...) can I do that without compromising the data thats on the phone - (I know the 'phone' part is the bottom board)

1) Trackballs should be swappable, I've swapped between 8330's, 8830's, etc.

2) Not sure what you're asking. Are you basically looking to switch housings? If so there's no issue in doing that.

not switch housings, I have done that...

I thought the BB main board was two parts

1. has the lcd, keyboard, speakers, etc...

2 has the radio, processor, ram, etc...

If thats true, can I swap the broken 'part 1's with each other?

ok - so turns out the 'main & radio' boards are the same thing. However, I just needed to remove and swap the 'keyboard' piece, there was something wrong with the hole on the pink one. Once I swapped that, smooth sailing.
