I downloaded the new 5.0 BBM and it works fine and downloaded with no problem. However, my daughter tried to download and her BBM icon disappeared...any idea what she can do to get the icon to show up?

She has checked to be sure it didn't get put back in a folder like a lot of the icons are when we first got the phones...the icon is nowhere to be found.

goto myprofiles and reset up her icon. then wait for the other contacts to messenger and the icon will reapear.

Have her press and hold the Menu key... the icon should show up there.
I don't have an icon on the homescreen or in a folder for it either. I use the keyboard shortcut (N) or the menu key.

Well I've sent her messages and she gets them but no icon..."go to my profiles"...maybe I'm brain dead tonight but I'm not sure where that is.

Open BBM and press menu. My Proflle is there.

samething happened to my GFs phone.

She's got an 8310. No BBM icon after update. Checked the application list, it was still there, but BBM wasn't even running in the background.

Had to re-download the file. And when we did, contact list was gone

Well my daughter has tried both Daphne and jsker's advice...didn't work. It does not show her "my profile" when she presses menu key and when she does what Daphne said, it will go to where she types but there's no way to get the icon back on the home screen or any other. Would resending the service books do it??

It doesn't show when she presses and holds the menu key? That shows all the running apps, browser, messages, homescreen, phone, messages -- all the native apps that you can't shut down.

Also try pressing and hold Alt and the back arrow key at the same time, which shows the same thing as pressing and holding the menu key.

It shows when she holds the menu key and if she presses it, she goes to where she can type but still no icon on her home screen or anywhere else. She prefers it on her Home screen because she uses the BBM app all the time and pressing and holding the menu key everytime is not convenient for her.

I just don't understand why her icon disappeared completely off the phone. She has looked in all the folders in case it put the icon back in one of those and it is nowhere.

Oh, maybe I misread your post. You could try resending the service books. Or back up the contacts to the media card and re-download it like BallHawk said.

If she disabled 'call from homescreen', she could just use the keyboard shortcut N for it. That's faster than finding the icon to press even when it is on the homescreen.

Edit.. one more thing. On the screen with all the icons, press menu (don't hold) and you can do "Show All" there in case the icon got hidden.

I'm trying to do the same thing, only my icon for the texting folder (SMS) has disappeared. When I press the menu button, I don't get a "show all" though.

Resetting the icon configuration didn't bring it back either.

Any other ideas?

Same thing with mine, service books no help. I am running the beta of OS 5.0 which I suspect is the problemo.
