Default Upgrade BPS to BES 5

Please Login to Remove!

I need to upgrade a BPS server to a BES 5 server.

I am looking to put BES 5 on a different server and decommission the BPS server. However, I want to leave the database alone. It is currently on a SQL server and I want it to stay there. Does anyone know what is involved in doing this? Preferably any pdfs?

Thanks

Thank you, that will help however it doesn't give any information about upgrading BPS. Is there any current documentation on how to do it?

Do you currently have BPS installed on the Exchange server, or is it on its own dedicated server?

Should be the same upgrade process as BES 4.1 to BES 5.0 ... but if you have BPS on a shared box, then you might have an issue doing this.

IIRC you have to upgrade to 4.1 for 2800.00 and then the upgrade to 5.0.

I do believe this is the case as well.
There's no documentation from RIM for a direct upgrade from BPS to BES 5.

I am new to BES, what is 2800.00?

It is not on an Exchange server however it is not a dedicated server. It is on a server with SQL Server, Sharepoint and some other small things. I want to move it to its own dedicated server.

2800.00 = $2800.00
The cost to upgrade. This certainly won't be free.

Ah of course. I was actually looking at $4000 so this is much better.

well, would he not have to upgrade to BES4.1 (and pay the upgrade free) - and then do a separate upgrade $1k for the BES 5.0? Or am i wrong here?

If I am correct, depending on the number of users on the BES - could it not work out cheaper to buy a T-Support contract - now of course this would depend on location etc as to costs - but just a thought?

You have to upgrade BPS to BES first and then get T support.
T support was changed and BPS T support only includes BPS upgrades.

Knottyrope - yes I know about T Support (BPS) covering only BPS upgrades.

My point was that you may be able to upgrade to BES 4.1 for $2800 - and then get a T-Support on BES 4.1. Depending on number of licences, T-Support may work out cheaper than the $1k additional to buy BES 5.0 upgrade....So in all maybe saving a few hundred dollars....
