Desktop Redirector predates both BES and BIS. If you wanted wireless e-mail to your BlackBerry you had to use Desktop Redirector. It is only certified with Microsoft Exchange backend e-mail servers. It has worked exactly the same way for at least 7 years.
I have the original RIM 950 BlackBerry that I used with redirector.
I use Desktop Manager 5.0, and it had the Redirector. I use it every day. You have to install the Desktop Manager like you have a BES, to get it to install the Redirector.
ahh right.
see i originally thought that, and was then told it doesnt matter whether you set it up with personal or work account, that redirector.exe was in one of the subfolders on the HDD.
