Temp disable of email account
Please Login to Remove!
Hi Guys,
Just purchased a 8900 curve so hope this is the correct place to post!
This has probably been asked lots of times but..
I want to temporarly disable an email account on the phone, as when Im at work I dont need to get work emails sent to the phone. Is there a way to do this?
Cheers,

How have you setup to get work emails?

Just using the setup wizard in email settings. Server type is Imap4. Emails that are pulled to the phone are still stored on the server, it's just that I have a limit on the internet and dont want to waste it recieveing emails whilst at work.

You could turn your data service off. However, when you turn it back on all those e-mails will still be sent to the device.

I tired that out as you say, all the emails come through when I turn it back on, sadly not really what I want.

Once you have the account configured on your device in your BIS account, I'm not sure you can disable it temporarily. You could log in to your BIS account on your computer and see if there is an option for temporarily disabling accounts.

in bis the only option is click filters on the account you want to stop
and underneath filters will say "when no filters apply:"
and then a dot selection for "forward to handheld" or "dont forward to handheld"
click the "dont forward to handheld" and I think it will stop receiving emails.
you would have to remember to change it back etc everytime though.

Thanks for the replies!
I have seen that you can do that in the BIS but.. Everytime I try to create a new account using my PC on the site by putting in the pin and IMEI in it just says, "Your account is not accessible via HTML please use your blackberry"
Any idea... Seems to be one problem after another at the moment!!
Cheers

If you already have an account to setup your email, why are you trying to setup another account?
the PIN and IMEI are linked to one account, where you setup all email accounts you want.

You could have also set the password incorrectly on the phone, which would prevent the service from connecting to sync; effectively disabling access to that account from the phone.
