Default Crashing when upgrading software

Please Login to Remove!

Good morning,
I'm done trying to figure this out on my own and I'm really hoping I can get some fresh ideas from those of you who know this software and these devices better than I. I have been using my 8900 for two months and I want to somehow become one with it.
Anyway, to business....
I am running Windows Vista 32-bit (No jokes please, I happen to like it) with the latest 4.7 version of Desktop Manager. My 8900 is T-Mobile with the stock 4.6.1.114 version of the OS.
Now, if I JUST have DM installed, I can sync, install apps, the whole ball of wax without any issue. If I go so far as to install the 114 software available from the T-Mobile website in case I need to modify or what have you, as soon as the app loader starts, it crashes. If I have ANY device OS installed at all, it crashes the moment loader starts. Makes updating or modding this thing impossible, and frankly, I'd like to do a little modding.
I can't really find anything on the web with regards to this, so I'm hoping someone has either run into it or just knows what needs to happen to make the issue go away.
Thanks for your time.

Don't use Desktop Manager to upgrade your OS. Use the Loader.exe file.

Loader crashes when I run it as well. I was just using DM as a point of reference because whatever is causing this affects both apps.

Well, the problem *seems* to have been the version of DM I was running. I found a beta for DM 5.0 and am currently upgrading the device to .250 from .114. Fingers crossed!

I'm running the same as you were, vista32 and dm47 and I have no problems at all
Could have been the install, I know you solve by installing 5.0 but out of curiousity did you uninstall and reinstall 4.7 during the process. I'm sure that would have worked. And make sure you install everything under admin

I found a solution online to the Vista / 7 conflicts with DM. It had something to do with the PC powering down USB ports to conserve power.

And to answer the question, I did a straight upgrade from 4.7 to 5.0 as my first experiment. It turns out that it fixed it perfectly. I also tried going back to 4.6 with no luck.
5.0 fixed my issue, so it's all good now.
