Howdy all!
I recently saw some info on the web that struck me as odd. According to that site, only 2.68% of all mobile phones in the USA are BB's. Its gotta be higher than that! Does anyone know how many BB's are in use in the USA? More specifically, Chicago?
Thanks!

You are looking at the wrong statistics.
You need to look at "smartphones" not just mobile phones.

The are a metric ass-ton of mobile phones.

Here's a good read:

Thanks for posting this link. An interesting read indeed. A couple of observations:

Although Smartphone users do comprise a subset of overall wireless phone users, that percentage continues to increase.

The Android OS numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, as the OS has only been availible to the public for a few months. It will be interesting to see where it stands at the end of the year, when more Android devices are availible.

^^^ Interesting. Didn't expect Palm to jump that much and Apple to decrease in such a short period of time.

I wonder if Palm includes the Windows Mobile Treos they've sold. There is no separate category for WinMo, so unless it's lumped in with Symbian in the "Other" group it could be at least partly responsible for Palm's jump.

I would be curious to see share data based on smartphone OS. Samsung, HTC and Tmobile in the pie chart above are device manufacturers running non-proprietary operating systems (Symbian, WinMO, Android). Palm, BB and Apple are the only 3 I can think of that have their own proprietary OS on their own devices.
