Default Reputable Place to Get AT&T Bold Unlocked

Please Login to Remove!

Can anyone advise on where they have gotten their AT&T Bold Unlocked. Were you happy with the service? How much did it cost?

Are their any dangers in doing this? (I have unlocked phones before with an Unlock code supplied by T-Mobile, but I have heard that ATT is unwilling to provide them).

Thanks,

Chris

Not sure if it is just a Bold issue with getting them unlocked. I have had several BB's unlocked with ATT. A couple of curves and a Pearl. Most people don't have a problem getting them unlocked if they are traveling overseas. That was my scenario. I was going overseas and wanted to use a different provider while I was over there and they unlocked it no problem. I have not tried it with the Bold though so I don't know if they will have a fit doing it.

I've never had a problem getting an unlock code from AT&T. I call customer service. When they ask for my number, I tell them I'm not an AT&T customer, and am looking for the unlock code for a device I purchased on EBay. They get the IMEI, and provide the number. This last time (last week), I actually got it on the phone with them, rather than through an email a day later, for a device that was less than thirty days out from activation.

1. Your service provider. Cost is free. I have gotten the unlock codes for all of my AT&T phones - Motorolas, Nokias, Samsungs and BlackBerrys. Never a problem.

2. Horizon Wireless. Cost was free (won a contest). The code worked perfectly the first time (used it on my daughter's T-Mo BlackBerry).

AT&T will generally supply the unlock code without argument if you indicate that you will be traveling overseas for an extended period. That includes the Bold.

Horizon Wireless.

You can't get a more credible and reliable source than that.

Once unlocked, do you have to reapply your code if you ever upgrade the OS or wipe the device entirely?

I am actually traveling through Europe over the summer with my kids and would love to unlock my Rogers phone so I can use it where ever I am overseas.

I will have to call Rogers in the morning to see if they will give me the unlock code before trying to purchase one.

Once unlocked, it stays unlocked. OS upgrade doesn't change it.

Rogers no longer gives unlock codes for Blackberry's, as most end up being sold on eBay while the phone is still under a contract with them.

The only way they say to get it, is to purchase one off Google, but it will void the warranty with them on the phone.

How long does it usually take to get an unlock code from Horizon?

I purchased one 30 hours ago and still nothing from them, and their live support is offline.

When I purchased it, the website stated I should have it in 12 hours....
