I'd say read my posts from above...
But, now I can report 2'nd full day of stability - though I have not noticed better battery life compared to .190, I can say that everything seems a bit snappier and faster - including browsing and Wifi. On Wifi, I downloaded a 24 MB file at the rate of 73 Mb/s - that's as fast as I've ever seen this thing go.
Also, switching between applications seems very fast. It's almost like a new phone.
The data wipe was not as bad as I thought it may be, most of my settings got restored from BES, including my bluetooth profiles.
So overall - even without more battery life, I'd say this is definitely worth the upgrade and small amount of troubleshooting to get it stable.

A few observations for what they are worth.
Whether or not the BES connection is terminated by the upgrade may depend on whether the upgrade is done on a home computer or the work computer that is otherwise connected to the network linked to the BES. The one time I upgraded at work I didn't lose the connection.
In the two days since I upgraded, I've not noticed improved battery, in fact if anything, I seem to have less battery than before, although 2 days probably is not a good representative period, since I've been doing a lot of things on the BB since the upgrade.
I pleasant suprise however is that the mail display seems to be working better. More colors and photos appear automatically than in the past, and I haven't changed any settings.

I would just like to say that I am using .247 and I have great battery time, excellent performance, no performance lag at all, and I have at least 13 apps running at the same time. Great call quality both on 2G and 3G, connected to wifi throughout the day, lots of e-mails and browsing (I browse BBF on my BB too), plus Viigo doing its thing and I have googletalk, Yahoo messenger, WLM, and BB Messenger all connected, and I'm good as I said before. At the end of my workday 7am-8pm, I still have at least 1 battery bar left. And this is everyday.
I don't think I will be moving to any other OS upgrade until a stable 5.0 is out, and even then I'm keeping my .247 close by.

I've done the upgrade. Works very well so far, and is quicker with loading. Just one thing i've noticed: under the setup folder on the main screen, there are 2 email settings icons, one saying "E-mail Settings" and the other "Email Settings" (without the hyphen). Did anybody else get this and if so, does anyone know how to take one of them out?

Ok...10 days of use later, I haven't found a single issue with my bold so far. My VM icon worked perfectly fine, and phone doesn't randomly restarts either. The phone hasn't crashed yet, and I can definitely tell that phone is faster with this new OS. I'm very happy with this upgrade. I used the loader.exe with vendor file deleted, if anyone's wondering.

I upgraded to this latest version because my phone wiped its memory bc it wouldn't accept the password I put in to unlock it... So, only having my phone for about two weeks prior to said incident, I can't tell that the phone is any faster and the battery life still SUCKS!!! Coming from a palm, where I only had to charge every other day, sometimes every third day to having to charhe every day is just annoying. However, I LOVE my bold!!
The problems I'm receiving are related to apps. Blackberry app world won't load, it keeps giving me an error, saying something along the lines of "contact your service provider for unlimited data plans" and won't ever open. I have an unlimited data plan and had no issue with this app before upgrade. The other issue I'm having is that when I download apps from the browser, they complete successfully but won't show up in the downloaded folder or in the menu. For instance, I downloaded the myspace app and I found it in the advanced settings but won't show up anywhere else. How do I get this to appear?
Hopefully I haven't overlooked this issue being explained before somewhere! If so, sorry in advance!
Thanks for any and all help!!!

You need a BlackBerry data plan. As for the MySpace app, do you have a Social Networking folder or something along those lines? I would check all of your folders to see if it shows there.

I have the blackberry data plan. It worked before I upgraded the software. I have looked in all the folders and can only find it by goung through the settings and looking under applications. Then it still doesn't let me move it to a folder where I can access it.

Do you guys have this problem with .266? Whenever I am on a phone call, if I receive a FB notice in the Messages Folder or a SMS, it hangs up the call. I am on AT&T with 3G and it seems to have the same problem when I force it to EDGE only service too.
Any ideas? I have the East Asian build of the .266 OS.

4.6.0.167 is the original OS that att had back in the fall when it first brought out the Bold. Att has not upgraded the OS from its launch.
I am not saying that att is doing anything unusual, in that Rogers, my carrier is still on 4.6.0.162 which it brought out shortly before att launched the Bold. 4.6.0.162 is actually an upgrade for Rogers. It launched the Bold in Canada a few months before att with version .126, I believe, which I had originally and which worked OK on Rogers network but caused my Blackberry to reboot constantly on 3g on att. Fortunately I could configure my Rogers Bold to 2g only in order for it to work on the att network while I was in the US on a business trip last October, and before I could upgrade the OS.
I have probably upgraded to all "official" bold OSs, including .167, which I found not as good as many re memory use. I currently have the most current, .266, which worked fine while I was in the US two weeks ago on att, so you should not have any problem, and probably improvements over .167, if you chose to upgrade.
As you know, RIM, does not tell what improvements are in their newer versions, so it is a matter of reading the posts on this forum to see what people's experiences are.
.266 is a UK Vodaphone upgrade, who had the bold before North America, I believe, so at least you have the comfort of knowing a major carrier has tested it and found it to be a significant enough improvement over their original OS to adopt it as their current OS.

How's the gps? Slow or fast (refreshing)? I'm very tempted to upgrade(running .234) but I do use wifi & gps extensively. In a 3G area though.
Thoughts? Recommendations. I heard somewhere an AT&T Update is due out shortly...is it worth waiting?
Mainly hesistant as I have re-do all my notifications & profiles everytime I update, has any prevent that?
