I ordered/just received a BB OEM Sound Isolating Heaset. Shame on me, I didnt fully research this because i thought they would work with my 8820. The heaset is a 3.5mm jack and my 8820 is, of course, a 2.5mm jack.
My question is: Will the BB OEM adapter work with this type of headset (ie pass stereo and mic thru)? Ive checked out several posts that talk about the seido adapter, but these posts imply that they are for a simple stereo headphone. Research indicates that the adapter must be a full 4 wire, 1to1, pass thru.
Is anyone using the BB OEM Sound Isolating headset with the 8820? If so, what adapter are you using? Are you getting stereo output?
Also, FYI.. The BB OEM Sound Isolating Headset works great on a iPhone 3G (my wifes). Plus they are black and cost much less than the Apple OEM Sound Isolating Headset.
A quick followup to this post. My solution to this ended up being to get a new set of headphones that has a 2.5mm jack. I decided to stop by a Verizon shop the other day and found a cheap set made by I-DIGI. They have all the same features that the Blackberry OEM set has; soft ear pads and mute/on/off switch on the cord. Plus they have the added advantage of having a braided nylon sheath over the cable. While this does not make it completely tangle free, it does help a lot. The stereo works fine too.
