Hey there,

I ordered a 8900 from T-Mobile and the first one that got here was overheating and the battery only lasted for 3 hours on standby so I had to ship it back and they sent me a new one. It seems that this one is overheating and that the battery isn't lasting too long either.

Is this a problem with the 8900? I have bluetooth turned off and wifi too now.

Have you installed any other applications? If yes, remove them and then test, it's possible that an app is making the radio or GPS busy all the time draining the battery.

I am assuming you are using the genuine Blackberry Charger or charging through a PC/Laptops USB port? If you are using something else to charge then drop it and use one of the two options above to see if there an issue with the charger.

I installed the facebook application, qik, google maps and the blackberry app world. I use the official charger and all.

wipe the handheld clean and use no 3rd party applications for a day and see if the battery still drains. My battery lasts 2-3 days in the 8900 I have. Keep in mind that if you let Google Maps run all the time, it will drain the battery in 3 hours because its constantly connecting to to the GPS radio.

I noticed mine overheats when I'm listening to music while it's in the pouch they sent. So I stopped. I have the battery issue as well and just spoke with T-mobile about it and they are sending me another battery. So I will see if it's truly a battery issue or this phone. Hopefully, it's the battery. I loved my 8820 and I could go almost 2 days without charging that phone doing all the same things I do with this phone. Anyway, they are express shipping the battery at no charge to me so I will report back my findings once it arrives.
