Does anyone keep a database for stolen PINs?

Had a 8100 Pearl stolen today, the Handheld did not have a password so they have access to the data but nothing sensitive, and the phone is "unlocked" so they can insert a different SIM card and start using it with another network.

Is there any place I can report the PIN or IMEI to so that if they try to use it, it will show up as stolen?

Your carrier would be the place for that report.

A database is maintained if reported properly, which will disable that PIN from being activated again.

Quite honestly, the device likely get's sold on eBay to an innocent party.

Call your carrier immediately and notify them. Also if you don't notify them you may have to pay charges incurred by the person who stole it.

I know its to late for you but for someone else or when you get a new BB. I found a app called smrtguard no thats not a miss spelling. it backs up your data and if your BB ever does get stolen you can locate,track,remote listen and self destruct it. It wipes everything off connects emails i think if makes the BB useless

There is no GPS in the 8100, so this would not help the OP.

Thanks for the reply guys. I called T-Mo, the carrier,and reported it missing immediately. I didn't have them suspend the account as the we have unlimited calls and data and I was watching to see if any calls were made from the BB so I could find it. T-Mo says that they do not keep a data base of lost or stolen PIN or IMEI numbers. I called RIM and they also do not keep any record so there is no way to track if a stolen BB is used on another network, which seems a little like a lack of service to me.
I will be picking up another 8100 and a new SIM card today and everything will be back to normal. I am also considering using a theft protection app and I will make sure my wife uses a device password from now on.

Nope. And I wouldn't count on recovering it. Frequently sync and/or backup, keep a device password and, if you're so inclined, consider insurance. There's a chance that the apps mentioned above might help but that assumes that the finder doesn't pull the battery or wipe the device right away.

If you didn't suspend it, then you realize that who ever had it is probably reading your emails right now?

Suspending it will not remove any data from the device, and in the absence of a password I believe the OP is well aware of someone accessing the data, as was mentioned already.

If RIM can see the PIN, are they able to send a wipe to it?

Devices can only be wiped remotely if they are on a BES, and in this case the wipe command must come from the specific BES the user is enrolled in.

Otherwise, third party software must be installed that will facilitate it.

It appears they turned it off immediately, and made no calls and did not use any data at all.

They got access to the data that was on the handheld as my wife didn't use a password, but once they turned it off they would have had to input a SIM card PIN in order to access the network services again...

Regardless, we got a new Pearl today and a new SIM card and restored all her data.

From now on we both have device passwords in addition to the SIM password, and I think I will install roblock on each of them.
