BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ

You will need a BlackBerry Data to setup your email and use the Browser, pricing depends on your carrier and if you deem it a worthy expense.

ATT may have given you the price for BES -- BlackBerry Enterprise Server, which is needed for company owned devices or personal devices on a company BES. If the device is just for your personal use, I don't think it would be $50. It's usually more like $30 or $20 for BIS, for personal use.

Another great reason to do research before you buy...it doesn't sound like the bb is the device for you.

I would check with your carrier, make sure its just a BIS plan, the BES plan is for corp users which is a bit more expensive then the BIS.

Also a BlackBerry data plan is different then a normal data plan. BlackBerry data goes threw RIM's NOC/ BlackBerry Network which is seperate from the carriers normal network.

The premium in price is because of the BlackBerry oriented features. That's what you are paying for. Push email means you don't have to check your email, it tells you when to view the new emails!

Thank you all very much. Gosh this just got my head are turmed around. I guess he will start back to using his other phone cause i am not paying that crazy price to check email once a day i don't no push mail crap just access ONCE a day. his other phone did that too but we didnt have to pay extra it alerted him when ever he got a new email. it kept him logged in all the time. Heck I already grip because 100.00 a phone for two phone is just TOO high there is no way I am paying out another 30.00

Just to clarify... you know that the BlackBerry email is delivered at 15 minutes intervals, right? If you have email, then it will check again in 3 or 4 minutes. Not sure what you mean about checking it once a day. You could probably sell the BlackBerrys on eBay or on this forum.

I think the OP does not need or want push mail.
