Default Browser Choices

On web-sources, it had been suggested that BB users might try 3rd party browsers (other than the stock BB browser). For example: Opera Mini.

I downloaded Opera & I am blown away by the improvement over the BB browser. I question if my BB browser was even set right upon power-up.

Opera is MUCH faster, more colorful, more like modern-day internet & omits that first "go-to" screen (that the BB browser has). What a big difference!

Are there pros & cons to NOT going with the stock BB browser? Some BB users have written that Opera did not work for them as good as I claim. Why?

You would think BB would have tried to make THEIR'S work the best for THEIR product. Unless MINE just needed tweaking, the BB browser really sucks!

It seems that FireFox will eventually join the BB Browser world

Skyfire presently works only on WinMo and Symbian devices only.

Here you go

Downloading Opera Mini directly to your phone is simple.

* Visit the web address mini.opera.com using your phone’s default Web browser.
* Follow simple on-screen download instructions.
* After the download, locate Opera Mini on your phone among other Java applications and start enjoying the blazing-fast mobile Web.

For my Curve that has been running Opera Mini for about a year, I never go Mobile View...mastering the navigation with keys 2, 4, 6, 8 makes life so much easier when zoomed out.

I was thinking the other day, I spend so much time zooming and adjusting the font size on my friend's iphone3G whereas on my Curve (running Opera Mini), I don't feel like I'm spending so much time readjusting my fonts and so forth making my experience more enjoyable...

I thought so... just want sure if they made any changes since the "update" of the last beta testing. Its a shame I had it on my last device for only a couple of months, and then I got my BB

I've tried doing this for the longest time but it keeps going back to the same page. Not sure what's going on and is very frustrating. I even tried sending a text to my phone with the link and did it that way but I still get nothing. What am I doing wrong???

I go to mini.opera.com on my Bold browser...go to download Opera Mini which is a green box on the right and click that...then it brings me to a page with 3 different options to download it...once again it says send it to phone as a SMS link, quick download and PC download. It NEVER says it's downloading or anything. Always keeps sending me in circles to the same download page.

I tried to download opera mini. It asked I'd I wanted to allow it with no certificates. I said yes and it failed to download. Now the page to download it won't even load.

Jumpman 23, I was having the same problem. What I've done and done successfully is setting ur browser to Rogers Mall in the browser configuration, save then type in mini.opera.com and it will bring you to the download page. I know it was very frustrating. Cheers

Hi, I've tried the opera browser and it only seems to work if the 'firewall' is set to disabled. Surely the firewall should be 'enabled'???

Does the firewall on the blackberry do anything for a BIS user?

Thank you!!! Can't believe that's all it was. Mine was under Blackberry instead of Rogers Mall.

Is it better to have the setting on Internet Explorer or Blackberry when viewing Opera?

I am using the Beta of storm and absolutely love it so far, downloaded it last night. Testing vs. Opera and so far from what I see loads a little quicker but will have to wait awhile to see. I love Opera so not sure if will replace it or not but always looking for the next best toy.

There is another mobile browser called "BOLT". i like that a little more than Opera Mini.

Although, does anyone else have a problem with not being able to scroll down pages fast? It takes me FOREVER to scroll through webpages.

BOLT is an awesome browser. Very quick, full html viewing, the whole bit. For quick scrolling within the browser use the 4 and 6 for left and right and 2 and 8 for up and down. I love this broswer!

I wonder if blackberry is going to get smart and change there browser in their next update. Since most phones are moving to a Web sdk browser I am wondering if they are workin on that as an update. I am not exactly sure, some one correctly if I am wrong but I think just a simple update would be able to change it and give all blackberrys a web sdk browser. So idk maybe they will maybe they won't. But here is for hopeing.
