Default New 8830 4.5.0.135 available

Please Login to Remove!

I am currently installing 4.5.0.135 on my Sprint 8830.

I went to BlackBerry - Update your Device Software with the 8830 connected to my PC and a notice popped up that there was a new update available. I was previously running 4.5.0.127+.131 apps.

Original credit goes to: OS 4.5.0.135 for 8830 now available from RIM - PinStack.com

Looking forward to hearing what's different from 127.

I think it was Alltel started with this update about two weeks ago, Sprint now.

But neither is available for download, only the webupdate service.

Really, this works with Alltel?

I will have to test this when I get into work tomorrow.

I would much prefer a install file however :(

Still appears to have a leak on my phone. Dropped 3 mb in 4 hours. Still suspect that you need to have at least 14 mb free after the install -- then it will be OK or at least tolerable.

I too received the update through the desktop manager. I went from 4.5.0.177 to 4.5.0.135. I'm have not been able to identify the difference yet but my Sprint 8830 is snappier in operation. Not sure why.

I believe you have the numbers mixed up. You had 4.5.0.127 previously. You have 4.5.0.135 now. They can be confusing.

I'm liking this .135. It is definately snappier than the others with no memory leak problems so far. The Media manager and Sprint Navigation are especially faster.

Doesn't look like Alltel or VZW has released 4.5 for the 8830 yet.

Yes, but you don't have an official Alltel version, you're using another carrier's release.

I loaded this last night on my Verizon 8830. It does seem to be more stable and operate faster than the 4.5.0.127 version. I still, as with the 4.5.0.127 version, have issues with Voice Activated Dialing (VAD). If I leave my phone on overnight and when I first use VAD in the morning, the phone scans the address book then gets locked-up at 98%. I then have to give the phone the 3-finger salute and then the VAD works fine. If anyone has any insight as to why this is happening or how I can fix it, I would greatly appreciate your help.

In spite of this VAD issue, I think it is worth it just to have the 4.5OS on the Blackberry. I do highly recommend upgrading to 4.5.0.135 as it seems to be the best version out there so far.
