Default Confused about BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there. Perhaps you guys could shed some light to this issue that I seem to be having trouble with. I just got my Nextel 7100i a few weeks ago, and I'm receiving my email and such through a BES. I'm assuming that because of the way the security is set up through my company's BES, I'm unable to sync the Blackberry with my computer over Bluetooth (essentially, the Blackberry isn't offering me the capability of Bluetooth Desktop Connectivity and Wireless Bypass). I read on this board that the new version of BES (version SP3) would offer the capability to allow me to sync my Blackberry over Bluetooth. What I don't understand is; what is BES SP3? Is it something that my IT administrator would have to install, or is it something to be installed on the client end? Because I don't have any BES programs installed on my computer now, but I'm getting my e-mail through an Enterprise Server. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

HI,

BES stands for Blackberry Enterprise Server and SP3 is a service pack for the server software itself.

Hope this helps

I would think it might have something to do with the version of handheld OS you have on your 7100i. Do you have OS 4.1? or OS 4.0? Apparently 4.1 will have the option to sync via BT, whereas 4.0 does not.

cd.

sorry reread the thread now, you'll need to install the desktop manager and then assign the bluetooth connection to COM 3 or COM 5 in order to sync.
