Default PIN already in use. What can I use?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi I bought a used blackberry 8310. I now know that I should have gotten the old owner to release the phone from the original carrier. So I know I can't get email. What can I use? Can I use BBM or the internet? I really don't want this phone to be a waste

Get the owner to release the PIN back to the carrier

You'd be best to get it released from the previous owner and carrier. BBM uses the PIN no matter the network or internet connection.

Get it released or your BB functionality will be limited.

Been discussed many times. A search would have divined the answer.

Call the owner and have him/her cancel their BIS account. If that cannot be done, call the carrier and explain the situation. You may need proof of ownership. Some carriers will do it some will not.

As said above, with out the PIN, you have a phone and an organizer. Not much else. No BBM, no email.

Okay thanks. I tried e-mailing the person who I bought it from, but I haven't gotten a response yet. It was AT&T, so I guess the next step is to try calling them myself, but I don't have much hope for that. After that I guess I'll sell it, but I didn't want to sell it to someone who would end with the same problem. So I just wanted to get an idea of what exactly it could be used for, cause I don't want to deceive whoever it is that I sell it to.

I had the same problem, and I called RIM directly and they released the phone for me and setup my email account. Pretty cool !

Hey Guys, thanks for all the answers and your help. I didn't think I'd actually hear back from the seller, but I did and he says he called AT&T and got the PIN released. So now I went back again and tried to register it again, and now I get a different message saying "This Blackberry is registered with a different service provider. Please re-register this Blackberry..." So I assume this means he did do something because the message has changed. I'm just not sure what the problem is now. I searched for this message in the forum and the only solutions I saw was the same thing that I thought he already did, which was to get his carrier to release the PIN. Am I missing something?

Sounds like he didn't cancel the BIS account which will release the PIN and IMEI.

Hey! I'm new here.. I recently bought a BB 8310 that is unlock, tha carrier is AT&T. It works just fine to make make phone calls and send SMS text but I haven't been able to create an internet service account. Every time I try to create it it says "your account have been blocked. Please contact your system administartor". I'm living in Spain so I don't know what to do.. The first time I used it was here..

Did you ask your carrier about that? (or BES admin, if you're using the company or whatever BES )

Hello!

No, I didn't ask the carrier 'cause I have never used it with AT&T. I bought brand new and I brought with me to Spain. I activated a data plan with Orange Telecom, wich is my service provider, but I still don't have the "Personal Email setup" icon in the BB....

Any help?... Please!!

Could you tell/post/PM me a phone number, which you used to make a direct call?

RIM # is 877-255-2377.
It depends on the rep. you get. If they are doing their job properly they should not release the PIN.

Sounds like you might have an old IT Policy on your BB from the last owner.

Anyone buying a Blackberry off ebay should just expect problems. I'm betting you did noy pay retail. I also bet that if you went to your carrier you could get a referbed at the price you paid and got some warranty.
