Hi i performed a knife-edge cutover for bes version 4.1 to another server. I am using Exchange 2003. I have stopped all blackberry services on my old server and i started all the blackberry services on my new server. I am just not able to start the blackberry synchronization service event id 16027 and the blackberry dispatcher service event id 10264. When i open the blackberry manager it is currently empty. Can anyone help urgently. Thanks

sounds like you did not do the mapi profile correctly.

goto blackberry server configuration on the BES and change it.
I hope you are logged in as BESADMIN

what steps did you take through the whole process? Is your "new" BEs pointed to the DB correctly? Did you move the database locally or is it on a SQL Server?

Also, post the actual events ratehr than the ID's for the errors on the services. The ID's themselves don't help much.

You either messed up the MAPI of your DB is not referenced properly.

Hi Guys,Yes i am logged in as the besadmin.When i go into Blackberry enterprise server configuration and type in the SRP identifier and the authentication key i keep getting this message " The MAPI subsystem cannot be correctly initialized and used. Please make sure MAPI is installed and configured"

Yes the database is pointed correctly and i backed up the database from old bes server and i did a restore of the database on the new bes server.

event id 16027 - description is [SYNC-gate] can't find BES (server name here) related SRP data in ServerConfig table.

event id 10264 - description is error retrieving configuration from database for server " server name here"

I used the doc id - KB 10278 from the blackberry knowledgebase site.

What is the verison of MAPI32.dll on the BES? Do a search for it and get the file version number. Sounds like MAPI is not installed or did not install properly.

Hi i found the file in 2 places. c\winnt\system32 - the file version is 6.5.7638.1
the file was also found c\progrm files\exchsrvr\bin - the file version is 6.5.7638.1

Try recreating the profiles in that case:

If that does not work, reinstall ESM as it may have pooched during the installation.

Hi Thanks alot,i recreated the profile and all the blackberry services started. However when i go into the Blackberry Manager 4.1 i am seeing the old blackbeery server and the new blackberry server on my network. If i browse to the old BB server i can see all the names and the pins.But when i go to the new BB server i am not seeing any names and pins. How do i get the names and pins to move to the new BB server?Thanks for all the help so far.

Ah, then you missed a step during the knife edge cutover. When you perform a knife edge cutover you are supposed to call your BES the same name as the old one.

What you want to do is uninstall your BES and then reinstall using the "old" BES name. That will correct your issue.
