try changing your theme to another theme. also try doing a reload of the OS and make sure to select BlackBerry maps if your device doesnt show it installed in the application area of the settings portion. Settings -> options -> advanced options -> applications, should be listed there if installed

What do you mean "get maps to work"?

To get GPS, especially for the first time, you need to be outside with a clear view of the sky and have Location Services on. Could take 15-20 minutes or more to get that first position fix.

You need a BB data plan for most of the map applications to work, i.e. BB Maps and GoogleMaps. Map data is downloaded as you use it and not stored on the device.

Take a look at the GPS & Map section as well.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear.

I mean I cannot even see the BB Maps Icon, do I need the data plan for that? My data plan 'should' start sometime today.

that would be correct, but you should have the icon regardless, just without a blackbery plan, you wouldnt get maps to the device.

that is a possiblity. the best way to find out is to check in the applications setting.

Settings -> Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications.

if it is installed on the device it should be listed there as the screen shot below shows:

if not, download the operating system and do a reload and click options and select BlackBerry Maps

All sorted now, thanks for the help.

Once my data plan had been enabled by my provider I got 6 or 7 new icons, including maps.

Try going into your address book and highlight an entry with an address stored in it. Hit the menu button and look between "Activity Log" and "Email {entry name}". There should be an option that says "View Home/Work Map", if you choose that it will launch BB Maps and show you their location.

If that's not coming up, then it would seem you need a service book to see it. I think AT&T users have something in their service books that stops BB Maps from working, but I'm not 100% sure.

I have T-Mobile, maps are loaded in applications and I can find locations using my address book, but no Icon for maps. Very strange....

Anyone else with T-Mobile missing the maps Icon, or maybe the maps icon is'nt supposed to be viewable.
