It seems as though the scroll ball on my 9000 is going bad already. It started just after having it a little over 24 hours. I'm having trouble scrolling up, but when I give it just a little "shove" it seems to work.

The reason I gave up the curve was because the scroll ball went completely bad. Should I return this one, or see if it works its way out? I really HATE setting them up to my liking and have already done that with this one.

Id say try replacing it, say its faulty. If you're lazy, (like me) then just open it up and see whats goin on inside. Or you could try replacing the trackball, but in the event you want to do that, I'd say just replace the whole device with a brand new one.

I had that problem too when I first got my Bold. From my experience, it required a little "break-in" period. I just press really hard on it and scroll. It eventually went away with a lot of use and it doesn't refuse to scroll anywhere anymore.

Trackballs rarely ever "go bad." They just get dirty. A little canned air will clean it out and all will be good. Keep the device in a holster and don't use it with dirty/food greasy hands. If it does get something in it you push and roll (with the device off or in standby) and it's usually fixed.
