Default New message LED not flashing after new email & SMS

Please Login to Remove!

In alert settings, I have voicemail, email & sms LED notification set to ON. But my LED still does nothing after new messages.

I know my LED works though, because it does flash when the battery is low. Any advice?

yep, i'm aware of that. i just searched the crackberry forums and found a user post about this same issue. although his problem is no LED flash for SMS messages only (9530). he states he called a VZ tech who related they're aware of this issue. but if others are having this issue, plz chime in.

Shut LED notification off. It's just an additional battery hit, and let's be honest... you're looking at the thing every few minutes to see if there's a new message anyway.

not true for me. in fact i loved this feature on my 8830. countless times when i wouldn't have normally checked my phone after being away for a few minutes. now i have to force myself into the habit.

is there a way to "force" the red LED to flash? the VZW in-store "tech" i talked to yesterday was a flat out joke... i think she was working at burger king last month. she didn't even know that OS numbers increase with each release.

I had the exact same problem. Could not get any help online or over the phone! Tech support was COMPLETELY useless!! After 2 hours on the phone with tech support I did a hard reset (wipe) of the phone and then just restored my backup. LED suddenly works again! I assume it was a weird software glitch.

thanks, i tried hard resets, but no go. so here's what i've learned:

there must be two different LED bulbs in the storm - one green and one red. after going to a VZ tech center, we concluded that my red bulb was burnt or defective.

VZW sent me a warranty replacement phone via FedEx 2 day and everything works now - just a major inconvience having to customize everything again, but at least it works now.

I ran across this message board/post when my red LED stopped flashing seemingly "randomly"... After a few support calls, I realized what it was - I had forgotten to take my clock out of "Bedside" mode. I kept just hitting the Red/Exit button, instead of exiting bedside mode or exiting the clock, so it was running in the background slowly eating all notifications... Grr... Plugging it in to charge was the ah-ha moment for me.

Anyways, I hope this helps anyone else who stumbles across this message as well.

Not good advice. The LED uses next to no energy. It would be FAR more wasteful to turn on the screen unnecessarily to check for messages.
