Exclamation New to BBerry

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking to purchase a Curve from ebay, but I do not understand why some are in auction with few bids under $200 and numerous bids on BB's over$300. Is there an issue with used / refurb bberry's? Is it better off to buy from mobile dealer ( Tmobile) as I am locked in with carrier? Just lookin to save some money, but do not want to get taken.
Any help for a potential new owner would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.

I would first read this: Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ

Then 'buyer beware'. You could also search the Buy/Sell/Trade forums here as well.

Many Thanks Juwaack68. I will have to print that out, as it is pretty confusing. I had a company BBerry 3 yrs ago, with only email. All I had to do was sync every morning. Left that company, and I am really impressed with what is out there now. I like the curve.
Thanks again for the link and advice.

I just bought a Curve 8330 for Verizon from eBay and it went well. I noticed that most used phones with any flaws were under $200 (particularly if there were several days left on the auction). Any supposedly brand new or Mint phones were the ones over $300 (usually to "buy it now"). Read over the link in the prior message, it's very helpful. Buy from a high volume seller, particularly one with close to 100% positive feedback. Also, ask questions of the seller. If they don't respond or won't give the information you're interested in, then look elsewhere. There seemed to be a lot of Curves up for sale, so you can be picky. It's doable, but obviously there are some risks. Good luck. It's a great phone.

Check with Tmobile if you are eligible for an early upgrade. Granted, that will extend your contract for another 2 years, but if you don't mind that, you may be able to get a brand new Curve for very little money or free. Good luck.

And you can always check what the price would be on a 1-year contract, as well

I love my blackberry, I couldn't imagine going back to just a regular phone.

I would try to at least make sure it is a T-mobile Blackberry, not just unlocked. They can do the wi-fi calling.

Use craigslist locally. I have bought 2 really nice curves for $100 or $150 every time. Even bought myself a backup until for cheap that was pretty well used...I refurbed it myself. Sometimes if you post an add WANT TO BUY (WTB) on the site you are better off. Just be cautious of course. I have sold and bought many items on craigslist...always worked out fine. Ask for pics of the phone and what accessories come with.

How about software? I have been looking at a few ebayers that just have the phone, charges, case, etc. Can I install software to my PC from Web, to push to the device?
