Question Stylus

Why won't a stylus work with the Storm?

How does it detect touch?

So it won't work if I have cold hands?

I believe the Storm uses capacitive touchscreen. A typical stylus wouldn't have the same effect on this type of screen as a finger would.

I agree with S&S. It is capacitive. You have to hold the phone for it to work. Can't just lay it on the table and touch it. A minor annoyance. Stylus is definitely out. You would probably damage the screen. 73

I think it's because the phone is designed to work with the pressure from the size of a finger...nothing else because I ordered a rubber tipped stylus off ebay...the tip is the size of a pencil eraser and it is flexible...so you can drag, point, and click with it and the tip depresses when you click so you don't put too much pressure on the screen. Mine works fine...even if it's sitting on a desk or table

Default Stylus

The screen is a capacitive touch screen. I see that there are now some styli that work with these types of screens. You might want to check out Pogo Stylus, try TenOneDesign dot com. It's made for the iPhone, but since both use the same time of screen, it should work.

Note, I haven't tried this myself.

I heard that someone came out with a touch screen friendly glove as well, so you don't have to take them off in cold weather to operate the device.

Here is one site that lists it;

Tavo Products TG002BLM iPod Click Wheel Midweight Gloves with Playpoint - Medium in Remote Controls for iPods at JR.com
