Default How do you tell if your Bold is unlocked?

Please Login to Remove!

How can you tell if your Bold is unlocked. I called ATT and they gave me the code. Then I did the following:

settings
options
advanced Options
SIM card
held down ALT and typed MEPE
put in the code and pressed enter
device said "code accepted"

Other than putting in another carrier's SIM card, is there a way to tell by looking at the device itself?

What are the advantages of being "unlocked"? I am a brand new Bold owner and totally new to Blackberry. So, I am just learning. Thanks

This question gets asked quite a bit.
Unlocking a BlackBerry allows it to be used on a carrier other than the original one. For example, you could take a Bold branded by AT&T and use it on another GSM carrier, like T-Mobile.
The other advantage is that it may modestly increase resale value.

I'm with my second BB and also is unbranded and unlock...the best of all is that i've been able to use it all over the world with different carriers.

thanks, how about pointing me to where I can learn how to sync with my MS Outlook files. I really am green on using this thing.

Just remember that if you use another carrier's SIM card, your e-mail/data services will likely not work.

Solano - along with the BB came a CD with a program called "Desktop Manager". DM hs the tools needed to sync with MS Outlook.

May I suggest you check out BlackBerryFAQ to get started.
