Default What one thing don't you like?

Please Login to Remove!

For you who have had the Storm for awhile could you name the biggest one single thing that you don't like about it right now? Assume there will be no OS upgrades and it is what it is. I'm still on the fence about this unit. Thanks

Default Texting

It doesnt "learn" the words that are used most while texting in the non landscaping mode.

The password protection uses full QWERTY and special character set, so if you use a complex password (ie - T@c0B3ll) the phone defaults to SureType and can't guess this password when you type.

Hopefully in the future they'll make it just a number pad.

At the moment I don't have my phone password protected because it's too much of a hassle to go through for the (mostly) non-private data on it.

1. For some passwords, like AIM, Yahoo, and the MySpace app, when it wants a password it brings up the multitap input screen. I have not figured out how to change that.

2. When I'm fooling with it while lying in bed the screen flips about sometimes between landscape and portrait. I'm holding the phone at odd angles when this happens, but it would be nice to be able to lock the screen when I AM going to have it at odd angles.

Wirelessly posted (blackberry storm)

I'd like two things
Ability to lock the screen
Cursor keys so editing a text box becomes possible without doing the hover and drag thing

Both things could be fixed with an update

LANDSCAPE MODE is oh so prevalent, it seems when I pull it out of the holster (the blackberry) it is in landscape mode, when I lay it down on the desk it is in landscape mode, I have not tried swimming with it yet but my guess is it would be in landscape mode. I wish it would do a true spin, degree by degree

I use landscape mode the most i find it alot easier and quicker to txt but i really REALLY hate when i go to hit the space bar and hit the symbol button i think its in quite a stupid spot. Wish i could delete it and make the space bar bigger.

I also dislike how much hassel it is to recieve and send via bluetooth! I know its a security thing but my god its annoying!

Still, i love the blackberry storm!

I dislike when you pull out of the holster, it's in landscape. When you go to answer a call you have to wait a few sec, then hit the answer key. It does swith to landscape very easily which is a negative, but overall, I love it can't put it down.

Wirelessly posted (BB 850)

The ability to disable landscape mode if wanted would be awesome!

I miss:
- the standby mode
- the proper work of multi tap, switches always back to SureType..
- would be great to put the key boad into a one click mode, would make writing faster, I guess..

My biggest gripe is that it doesn't have a proximity sensor for when you're talking on the phone to disable the mute button. I can't count the number of times I've inadvertently put a customer on mute without realizing it. Even a simple screen lock while the phone is on a call would be nice.

Have only been using it for a couple of days but the only thing that winds me up is how easy it flips the screen at the slightest tilt and takes forever to get it back in the right mode afterwards.

Default no delete key for text editing

What am I missing and yes, I am new to BB?

After finally positioning & getting the cursor over the letter to be corrected and then having to backspace to correct a word, there is still one character under the cursor that will not be edited....so you have to retype the line to correct the error because there is no single delete key.

-'Force to portrait' when a call rings in.

if more than one response is allowed, then...

-Faster [read: near instantaneous] response to the lock/unlock button.

-A return to the 'stop ringer' button toggling between vibrate only and normal ring, when the screen is locked [this went away with .83].

-Flash support for the browser.

FWIW, I've had the Storm from day one and have used .65, .75, .76 and now .83.

Try .83 and you might like what you will see. That was my biggest pain also and after upgrading to "beta" firmware issue is almost fixed. Way things are going from upgrade to upgrade we should see most of the bugs gone and new features being developed (I hope).

A QWERTY keyboard in portrait mode like the iPhone (which I have no intention of using - just a point of reference).

Also for the QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode:

I would like the option of showing a keyboard with keys that look like older models i.e. letters on bottom with numbers/ALT chars on top. The keys are drawn big enough for this and it would make it easier to do special ALT key-combos that are normally documented with their alpha chars. For instance, when you create a saved search, like the built-in ones for showing only incoming (ALT+I), outgoing (ALT+O), etc. it asks you to select a letter... but when you actually go to use that saved search, you must use what is on the numeric keyboard... which means you must learn what keys they correspond with to actually use them. More examples would be {ALT} LGLG (which is easy to remember based on what it is for) is now {!?123} "/"/ ... not so easy to remember unless you know how the keys overlay.

Also the hightlight of the key while you hover over it can be completely masked by large thumbs. There are two blank areas at the very bottom of the keyboard... show the key that is about to be pressed there. This would probably be an acceptable work-around too for the other issue I mentioned about wanting a keyboard shown like the older models... if the corresponing letter was shown there in one of these blank spots (or just popped up briefly) that would work too.

Phone app sucks! Can't answer in landscape, sometimes can't answer in portrait. Contacts seem harder to sort through. I'm glad it's easy to use for email, but it is a PHONE that does email. Or is it the other way round?

If there were going to be no more updates, I don't know if I would keep the phone. Simply because it is not a fully functional telephone.
