Default Rebooting Issue - Looking for some help...

Please Login to Remove!

Just about a week ago, my BB 8300 has been shutting off in the middle of phone calls. It's getting worse by the day as I used to be able to talk on the phone for about 20 minutes until it would shut off. Now, I talk for only a few minutes and the phone call reception starts to get "static-y" and eventually the BB will shut off. Periodically, it would also shut off when I try using my camera. Very frustrating to say the least. The only way I can get by without the BB shutting down while on a call is to have it charging while talking on the phone. Unfortunately, this is the only way I can avoid the auto shutdown.

I've been using 4.5.0.108 for about 2 months and my BB has worked flawlessly up until a week ago.

Over the past few days, I've been trying to do everything I could think of to fix the issue. I've tried the following:

- Battery Pull
- Removed my SD card (to troubleshoot that it wasn't a SD card issue)
- Removed 3rd Party Apps
- Wipe with JL Cmder
- Downgraded to original 4.2 OS

I thought downgrading to the original 4.2 OS would do the trick, but I'm still having the same issue. I'm really close to giving up and concluding that my BB is toast and I just need to get a replacement.

any help?

Did you check your free memory? Did you optimize your memory?

I'm calling a bad battery. I would try a different battery and see if that is the source.

I didn't think about it being a battery issue, but it kind of makes sense... because i noticed that when it shuts off, i lose about a 1/3 of my battery each time I reboot. I'll have to grab a battery and troubleshoot it.

any suggestions on where to get a battery for a good price?

thanks

This is what prompted my response "The only way I can get by without the BB shutting down while on a call is to have it charging while talking on the phone."

Check the link in my signature for a replacement. Do you have any friends with a BB you could borrow to test? If not you might run by your carrier and ask if they have a battery you could borrow to make a test call do see if it does it with a different battery.

Good Luck!

Hi guys,

i picked up a replacement battery at Best Buy to test (BTW, $50 for the thing, OUCH!) and I ran a test call and everything is good so far... I'll test it out throughout the day before I conclude that its a battery issue, but by the looks of it, I think the issue will be resolved. If i don't experience any issues by tomorrow, I'm going to buy a replacement battery from eBay and eventually return my overpriced replacement battery at Best Buy.

I feel stupid because I literally did everything else (reload os, downgrade to 4.2, wipe with jl cmder, etc.) but replace the battery. I wish I thought of the battery first because it would have saved me a lot time as well as me not having to re-install various applications over again.

thanks again! (ps. i now have another issue that has been bugging me for a while too, its in regards to web signals, i cant get them off! check out my other post)
