See, I knew there was a substantial difference in the volumes between upgrades ! I just don't know why others are not noticing ?? Just don't want to downgrade and lose my vid camera and other features.

Can I ask where you found the 4.2 OS? I'm in the process of trying to find it and it's not working for me.

Thanks for the offer. I actually found it right after I posted (go figure!) and I'm now installing 4.2.2.3xx to my phone. If it doesn't work, I will definitely give you an email in the morning. Thanks for actually replying

Unfortunately, the problem with (MOST OF) those links is that if you go to them now, they all link to the carrier's latest OS, which is now 4.5. I had that same idea to go track down old posts last night and was dumbfounded when I realized I was 4.2-less.

I suggest going here: BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites

j0j0, last night I found OS 4.2.2.175 (old, but it'll do) for the 8320 from AIS Thailand off that page. I installed it last night and all is now golden - no more reboot loop like 4.5.0.81 did to my poor Curve. They also have a 4.2.2.xxx OS for the 8310 as I just checked.

Good stuff my man

Thanks for the reply, i tried to talk to customer care about how i would get ,y 4.2 back and they couldnt help me with anything, but said if you backed it up before installing 4.5 then it should revert it back to the old 4.2, that didnt work. I'll d/l this tonight and install it after i get off work. thanks!

P.S do you have t-mobile? i was kinda wanting myfavs appearance back like the original 4.2 i had, it had a more newer look to it, 4.5 change the appearance to myfavs, i dont like it. DeUcEs!

That's funny cause the one thing I noticed when I downgraded back to 4.2 was the reappearance of the totally unnecessary pop up that says "myFaves display on" and then of course, "myFaves display off", each time you show or hide it. Tell me something I don't already know. I liked how 4.5 did away with that.

I have 4.2.2.184 and a webserver. Not sure if hosting that file is considered illegal. If not, I'll be happy to put it up on my website. Let me know if anyone is interested.

I'm also interested to know whether that would be illegal, considering I have .175 and it'd be nice to bump it back up to .184.

I've complained about 4.5 volume level's back when 4.5 first came out...but ever since version .69 it has seemed to bump up a little or I have just grown used to it...(probably have grown used to it).

Most definitely without a doubt 4.2 rocked the boat volume wise for sure..

I am now running 4.5.0.97 and its just ok..

Not to mention I can't use the BB Dimension plus theme w/4.5 and I loved that theme...

My Curve died a sudden death the other day and I just received a free replacement from Rim, preloaded with 4.5 of course. Once again, the lower volume, this time on another piece of hardware, is very obvious. Ringer volume and speaker volume are not nearly as loud as 4.2.

If the 4.3 OS would make full use of my 8GB media card, I'd go back to using it.

But I like my 8GB, and I like having more music with me than I could ever listen to, so I'm stuck :p

I just upgraded my 8120 to 4.5.102 and have volume issues in the handset speaker; calls are really low compared to 4.3.

I was surprised to note that even big names like "JSanders" are puting their heads in the sand when it comes to the volume issue. Honesty is important guys! I also noticed tho that "JSanders" posted once. There is no need to protect RIM. I love many features of 4.5 but I am sad about the VOLUME ISSUE. We demand perfection. RIM should resolve the issue! How can one let RIM know? Maybe the bridge between bbforums and RIM is being broken by the likes of "JSanders".

WTF dude?? are you out of your mind? This volume issue could specific to your device. I have never had volume issues with my berry in any of the OS's I have used... starting from 4.2.XX to 4.5.0.102.
