What database is it hanging up on? Do you have any 3rd party applications installed? What version of Desktop Manager are you using? What version of the handheld OS?

First try removing the battery. Try the backup again. You may need to just clear that database and start over. I was hoping to see another app that might be causing the error but I don't see one. Use the backup/restore Advanced feature in DM to clear the quick contacts database. It's just your speed dials. You might even be able to clear them directly from the speed dial list or maybe even find the problem there.

I'm having the same or similar error. Not really sure what can be done about it.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...kup-error.html

As you can see, mine is hanging on Ring Tones (or perhaps the item that comes just after ring tones and it trips up before the display can indicate what it is currently processing).

Not sure what the workaround or solution is. I'm going to upgrade to .168 and see if that makes any difference.

The Wall Street Journal mobile reader is a known backup problem maker. There is another thread about this on the forums.

I looks like there are a few third party apps that are causing backup issues.
