I'm on an AT&T Bold with .167 and it takes forever to charge... 1 hour = 15% charge.. Anyone else experiencing this? Plus application memory is disappearing quickly. I think there is a memory leak.

Totally agree. Pretty quick memory drain. And took me well over 3 hours to charge from 40% to 100%.

Charging with the AC adapter is fairly quick. Full charge within 30 minutes. I agree, however, that charging via USB seems to be fairly slow but I've been using the device while it has been charging. Haven't tested how long it would take without concurrent use.

my .167 charges decently fast on the BB wall charger and pretty slow on both my non oem car charger and usb. It would probably take roughly 2-3 hrs for a full charge with little use on the computer usb here at work. battery life isnt any worse than it was on my pearl. No matter what, I'm usually charging it through the night.

My ~3 hr charge time was using a wall charger, not USB. It was a Motorola USB, not the included BB charger but can't imagine that makes a difference....always worked fine w/ my Pearl.

Whenever I used a RAZR charger with my Pearl, it charges incredibly slow, yet the BB wall charger charged my pearl from nothing to full in less than an hour.

Isn't there a risk to be using a non-RIM or non-OEM accessory to charge up the phone? I would imagine there would be subtle differences in the circuitry and output (ohms, resistance, voltage, etc.)

Might not be good for the long term. Any reason why you wouldn't be using the wall-charger that came with the phone (assuming one was included with your phone)? Maybe a different carrier besides AT&T didn't include the wall-charger? For example, I noticed someone else on the forums got a 1GB microSD card with their phone whereas I didn't have that included in my AT&T package.

i used to have the curve and just recently got the ATT bold that came with .167 and i agree the charging is ridiculously slow. the curve used to charge up in less than an hour while the bold can take up to 3-4 houurs for only 60%. i dont' know if this the OS because i haven't used any other versions before.

So I am using the BB OEM charger that came w/ my Pearl (it's in my office) and charging is way way faster (went from 25% to 85% in an hour or so) than using my Motorola charger.

In terms of why I haven't been using the OEM charger, it is purely a function of convenience. With my Pearl I kept the OEM charger in the office and had a few Motorola USB chargers at home. Never had any issues. When I got the Bold I didn't even take the charger out of the box figuring the behavior would be the same.

Since my Pearl OEM charger seems to work well w/ my Bold in the office I will just use the Bold OEM charger at home.

Who would thunk it.

Wow, I'm not the only one with slow charging problem.

I'm not even using it while charging, yet it's slow. You are right, about 1hr = 15%.

Usually in 1hr, my Curve is charged 50%. I guess it's better to slow charge than fast charge? Battery last longer?

If I'm not mistaken, due to the power requirements of 3G implementation, I believe the battery in the Bold is a new battery (read: different hardware). It's possible the same assumptions that come from experience with previous models doesn't carry over accurately.

Does anyone know of a true extended battery? I think we have a 1550 mAh battery and I've seen third-party batteries claiming 1450mAh but nothing claiming more than 1550 yet.

I saw as much as 1700mAh from some company, and 1650mAh from Seidio, but that's a different topic.

Agree, battery charges really fast. Also, with moderate (sending/receiving 10 text messages and 1 hour of web browsing) use from 8am - 7pm and only 3G on (not 3G/2G), I'm at 85%. I think that's very good battery life. I'm not running any background apps, except gmail and PocketDay.

I wonder if .168 would help, has anyone tried yet?

I'm just moved to 168 but haven't drained the battery far enough to know how it will charge back up.

I tried to find a way to remove 167 but cannot find it. I see the desktop., the media center, no os. how do you downgrade then/

If you have the Desktop Manager installed you need to use the Loader.exe. Uninstall 167 from your add and remove programs and install the desired version. Run Loader.exe and follow the prompts. Good luck. Here is where my Loader.exe is found... C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.
