I called the 2 corp stores in my area (Westchester, NY) and they said they had them but were not selling them until tomorrow. My reseller won't have them until Thursday so I will get 1 of the 3 I need to get tomorrow (for myself of course) and get the other two later in the week from my reseller pal.

I got mine this afternoon around 2 pm. The non corp store in Basking Ridge NJ. Dealer said he got 20 of them in and most of them were spoken for already. Sweet

I called around yesterday to find if the bold was available in the southwest suburbs in Chicago. Of the 5 places I called, only one was offering to sell it on Monday. Many locations did not even know if they would receive it by the Tuesday launch date! A few stores did receive shipments today. The store called me back around 11:30 AM to say they were available. I bought it at 3PM at a location in Tinley Park. The availability must be lmited. They only received 5 at this store! I felt fortunate to get one.

Initial impressions

Best key board I have used on a mobile unit...hands down
Beautiful sharp screen
The trackball may be "buggy". I am going to try it out for a few more days. It is functional but did not work well in all applications

I really like this phone. Seems to be the best email centric phone on the market

got mine around 4pm in south loop of Chicago. Is anyone else disappointed by how soft the screen is? (i.e., screen distorts like a laptop screen if pressed?) I kind of assumed they would make the screen durable like the iPhone to avoid LCD shattering and screen scratches.

Sounds like I'll try it for the first 30 days and make sure this is something I really want...

i got mine today, also disappointed in this, tried a few, they all did it. my friend did the same when he got his yesterday.. seems to be normal, lame, but normal

From my understanding it can't. The LCD is bonded to the front "glass". Probably also the reason it is more sensitive to pressure.

I wonder too, but it may be designed with a softer material so it won't shatter. I have an InvisiShield on the way and there are no worries of scratches with it on....which, btw, is a 'soft' material too.

Ijujst picked up my BOLD on 11/04/08 in Mobile, Alabama. The store down here had four of them. So far no problems. The video aspect is alot better than the 8800c and the BOLD has A2DP so I got myself a pair of wireless headphones

How come you were only charged $299 upfront with a $100 MIR? The ATT stores here in NY are charging $399 upfront with a $100 MIR. Are we missing something?!
