Default Should RIM have released the Bold with a microUSB connection?

Given how the Storm and the Pearl 8220 have microUSB connections, it is obvious that RIM is going with the new standard for phones that Nokia, Motorola and others have signed up to a part of. So given that the Bold is a new device too, I wonder if RIM should have released it with a microUSB connection instead of a miniUSB?

I am sure they had a switch over date in the development cycle and the Bold fell outside that date. I don't care which way they go. It is a bummer because everything I have is Mini USB.

doesn't reallly matter to me. I'm good with the miniUSB... My curve's on that too. Unless I have many other devices with microUSB and/or plan on getting the Storm/Curve 8900, then I might agree. Until then, it's kewl...

Wirelessly posted (off to see the wizard)

Micro usb ports stink

I see those come in damaged more than any other port on a device

I prefer mini-USB but only because I have lots of items that use it at the moment so only need 1 lead to connect up lots of diffferent things (obviously not all at the same time).

Me too - I have a 8800 BES for work and a Bold BIS for personal and also use the same cables for other devices. Although, the change is obviously going to come at some point!
