The Common Files\RIM folder is where everything is stored. If you just deleted that, there's no possible way it can work.

Make sure you downloaded the correct OS version for your specific model phone and try again. You missed a step somewhere if it is not working.

I have the correct version. Like I said, I've done this many times before.

shivers, search your entire c: drive for the vendor.xml file, and delete any instance of it.

Just tried that JS. No go. I'm completely stumped here. I've upgraded so many times with no problem and Desktop manager is recognizing the OS but it will NOT push it to my BB.

Have you tried rebooting both the PC, and the BB with battery pull, and try again?

I don't know what else to say.

Sometimes one of the steps is overlooked. It happens.

Is it possible it's my BB? I've just gotten rid of everything that had to do with RIM and reinstalled it all and even tried downgrading to the original TMo os and it just will not read the os at all.

I don't know what you mean "gotten rid of everything that had to do with RIM".

Since RIM makes the OS, could there be something you deleted?

Is it your USB cable? Does the phone indicate charging when connected and show the PIN in the DM window? Is the USB cable plugged to the rear of the PC--not a USB hub or monitor port?

I deleted everything RIM off my PC, even all the folders and then reinstalled everything. The USB cable works fine and DM reads the BB and even can still sync and do backups. Its always been plugged into the front of my computer and worked perfectly up to this point. When I go into the about section it shows that the new software is installed. Like I said, I even tried it with the stock TMo os and it wouldn't even prompt me to downgrade. I'm stumped.

I know this sounds quite simple, but after you dwn load the OS to ur pc, u should be prompted to restart ur computer. Do it (otherwise no prompt for you) and then open up Desktop Manager...there should be a search for update wherein ur new OS should be seen.

Just tried that too. I'm at wits end seriously. I'm afraid to wipe my device because I'm afraid I won't be able to put an os back on it too.

Well, I created a new user on my PC and did clean and new installs of everything and it worked. Still stumped why it won't work on my original user side. At least I got it though.

Well.. good to know your fix.

I wonder if you had used the Add/Remove Apps from the Control Panel of the PC it that would have worked for you to remove all installed RIM OSs and start over. It doesn't really matter now, though.

You're an IT guy. RTFM! Look at the top of the 8300 Discussion Forum - where this is posted. There is a thread there on where to download the 8330 code from, and how to install it.

I won't even lecture here. You've cost yourself a lot of aggravation.

Here you go ->

I had the same problem and this is the final and ONLY thing that worked!!
