Default My curve with a new trackball and blue LED

Please Login to Remove!

So I cleaned out all the dust and colored the LED light before. After cleaning it a couple times the metal ring wore out and I needed to purchase a new trackball set. I also noticed the blue LED light i modded wasnt as bright as my girlfriends Pink LED I made for her. I also tried to re-white the trackball with that vinegar mixture and it didnt work.

I received the new trackball and installed it. All I can say is WHAT A DIFFERENCE in color! Check it out

The orange on the pumkin is nice (just kidding)
The light looks good! did you do anything special other than just replace the trackball?? I was not following what you said about modding. (Isn't the pearl the only one that you can mod the color?)

Ok, so the $64.00 question is how do you color your LED?

Not in a BB, but I've done it with Sharpie markers before...

Yeah a sharpie to the LED will do the trick. I've put a small piece of scotch tape that I colored with a Sharpie over the LED and then changed it out with different colors from time to time to "mod" it.

There was a member here a little while ago saying he replaced the LED with a colored one. I would not attempt that myself, nor would I recommend anyone else who isn't experienced with circuit based electronics to.

I bought 50 trackball assemblies with the chrome ring from a wholesale supplier.

I didnt like the sharpie colors or the price for that matter. BIC came out with ultra fine sharpie like markers that were 1/3 of the cost and has a much better color selection.

You may need to color the trackball darker.

OP, nice job. I like the blue!

i also read somewhere that nail polish on a piece of tape over the light works well too and doesnt fade as fast, if at all.

with verizon's LED being off to the left do i put it off to the left? or right under the trackball?

You would want to put the colored tape directly over the LED.

It's a little tricky as you don't have a lot of room to work. Trial and error basically. It may take you a few times to get it on right.

Has anyone tried dying the track ball itself? I did the sharpie colored tape over the LED on my 8830 and that worked ok. I might order some track balls and try to dye them and see if that works also.
