Default How do I make keypad sound for "*"?

Please Login to Remove!

Just getting my feet wet with my first Blackberry so sorry if this is a dopey question. Love it so far but...

To call and retrieve messages from my home and work voice mails I must press "*" at the prompt to access my messages. Can't seem to make the blackberry do the proper * beep that my voice mailboxes can hear. I'm having the same trouble coming up with a # tone also.

I tried holding down "alt+A" since that's where the asterisk is but no go. Anybody know how to do this?

Thanks!
Allison

Wirelessly posted (Bold)

I think if ur in a phone call, u don't need to press the alt key, just press a (*) by itself.

Yay, it worked. THANKS. I should have realized that the BB was smart enough to know that.

Thanks again, d33pa!

another trick or feature on the bb is if you need to dial a phone number and they only give you - for example 888-346-FIDO, you wonder how the heck you dial that because its not a regular phone key pad; you simply hit the alt button while pressing those letters, so while you are on the dialing screen, press 8 8 8 3 4 6 [hold down alt] then hit f i d o, the bb will automatically dial the right numbers. Hope that makes sense. Enjoy your new phone.

It knows to treat certain fields as numeric. In numeric fields you hit the alt key to produce letters (opposite of text fields).
