It all really depends on where you are. I've had Tmob for about 5 years and love them, I generally get good reception anywhere I go. Like I said though, it depends on where you are. I live in New England, RI/MA area.

It is all about coverage. If you are getting lots of dropped calls on ATT you are either not in an area covered well or you have hardware problems!
So, "it is all about coverage" Well shouldnt that hold true for any carrier though?! The fact is that if you love Blackberries and all their functionality, and like good prices then you want T-mo IMHO.

I love T-Mobile as well. They don't cripple their phones like some other people do, and their Hotspot@Home service is innovative, if you use a phone that supports it. My parents also had them since the days of VoiceStream. We like them so much that we put up with about four years of bad coverage in our house. They apparently smartened up somewhere and we got good coverage out of the blue.

Try this to see what sort of coverage you might expect to get with Tmo. Have found it to be quite accurate: T-Mobile Coverage

I've been with TMO since they were Omnipoint, then Voicestream. Customer service has always been the best, and never a problem with service in the main metro areas.

I love TMO and have been with them for over two years. Their CS is AMAZING! Makes it a pleasure to call your cell company!

I get very, very few dropped calls in only a handful (or less) of areas.

I'd say GO FOR IT!

T-mobile was my first cell carrier.

Well. No. I lied. Voicestream was my first cell phone carrier.

9 months on prepaid.
14 months on postpaid when i turned 18...
switched to sprint, that lasted 5 months, i said "eff this" paid the ETF, and came back to t-mobile.
12 more months there.
Didnt have a phone for a few months...
Got a job.
Got t-mobile again.
Kept it for nearly 2 years.
Dropped it to prepaid when i moved to keep the number active, then switched to sidekick prepaid for about 9 months because Cricket didnt have mobile web.
Went back to regular prepaid and bought a 1 year card to keep that number active... and cricket was my main carrier for 2 years... hated the lack of roaming.

3 months ago, company decided to drop cricket and verizon, in favor of t-mobile blackberries... and I wouldnt change a thing.

Well, yeah, i'd change my blackberry housing to the new orange one.

go to Blackberry.com and go to device software by carrier. go to Orange UK and download it, install it in the computer then go to Program files/ common files/ research in motion/ app loader and delete the vendor file. now install it in BB and it should work fine. i love mine bvery much!

WHERE IS 4.5!!??

Other than that they have the best customer service by a landslide (it is their competitive advantage) and the coverage is better than AT T.

If you want the BMW of service then go Verizon. That is what they specialize in. But I think T-Mobile has the best overall package and the best prices on service.
AT&T doesn't have 4.5 out either. I don't think any American carriers have 4.5.

AT&T went down the hole when they merged w/ Cingular, and T Mobile has great reception in some places, while its still very poor in others. I have found Verizon to be most reliable, and their BES plan is the same cost as ATT.

Happily syncing to BES with The Message Center Exchange Hosting

I am satisfied with T-Mobile. Never really needed customer service, mainly bacause I come to these forums before anywhere else. But before my Curve, I needed in 2 or 3 occasions and I was always satisfied.
As for coverage, I think is pretty decent, not excellent. I get good coverage most of the time. Very few, dropped calls, maybe once a month.

tmobile has greatly increased and improved their coverage in the last 3 yrs, i have been with them since 1999, and have been able to use them in the places that i have needed. home, work, Orlando, South Carolina (florence, columbia, charleston, myrtle beach), michigan (detroit, flint), Vegas, Grand Canyon, NY, NJ.

no one can have coverage anywhere. there are areas on interstates that are not covered, but in major places, towns malls etc i have never had non coverage.

You need to be very specific about your location. Nationwide discussions about coverage are pretty pointless as coverage varies so much from market to market even with the same carrier.

Coverage can even vary within a given market. In Houston, for example, there are areas where TMO has excellent coverage. There are also areas where TMO has poor to no coverage. Since my former house was in one of the latter areas I switched to at&t a couple of years ago.

I haven't. The house I just mentioned is in a "good" coverage area on that map. TMO's coverage is totally unusable there (even out on the street). Don't rely on coverage maps. Make the most of the trial period that your new carrier gives you to test real world coverage.

BMW of coverage maybe. There's no good analogy for the device crippling, IMO.

Why is a carrier/coverage discussion in the 8300 series forum?
