Is anyone else having problems downloading the file? It's taking really long for me.

Welcome to the Forums.

RIM downloads are notoriously slow.

Thanks, I've actually been lurking here for a few years and finally joined up.

I hear you, the new version of DM downloaded pretty quick though from the RIM servers, it's the OS executable that's taking a while. It has sped up though, so all is good. Thanks

1. She should know the answer to that. Look at Options > Advanced > Service Books. Do you see Service Books listed for [Desktop], then it is BES.

2. Yes, and she will still need to get an activation from her BES afterwards.

3. No, the IT Policy will be pushed to the device.

I Just got the 8800 and I love it, the 4.5.0.xx OS's have some issues but they are well worth it.

I have just completed my test of the 4.5 OS on my 8830 World Edition.

It worked great for me, EXCEPT the video player functions. The player would crash and lock up my phone, whereas it's never been a problem in the past.

So once this problem is fixed, 4.5 will be a SWEET OS for CDMA BlackBerry 8830 WE users.

I'd like to see BlackBerry Wallet added to the package, instead of it being a separate download.

Documents To Go (Standard Version) comes with the OS, and works quite well.

The OS just plain looks a lot nicer as well. All in all, I'm really looking forward to the final release of 4.5

Default Google Map and Yahoo Go! 3.0 Beta Still Can't Work

Successfully downloaded the 4.5.0.44 and upgraded. I can't feel anything new and Google Map 2.2.0 and Yahoo Go! 3.0 Beta still can't work.

Default Mixed Feelings

I do believe the versions of 4.5 we're seeing are still *essentially* beta versions, albeit late betas. A couple issues I've been having with every 4.5 release

1. I occasionally get a screen-o-death and it resets my device.
2. Whenever my device is reset or I do a battery pull, the icons I have hidden in the main menu become "unhidden."
3. BlackBerry maps is finicky. It works sometimes.
4. I've had my BlackBerry Messenger buddy list cleared (grr, this was the worst problem thus far).
5. Whenever I unlock my device after I've gotten an email, it automatically bring it up (good) but it only displays the address area (bad). I do have HTML email activated so I'm guessing this is just a kink. If I go back and into the email menu, then click on the message, it works fine.

Honestly, there are a lot of advantages to 4.5

1. HTML Email is great
2. Spell checking is very nice to have
3. It's pretty snappy, not too laggy in anything
4. New browser is a big step forward
5. Improved BB maps is good to have, but still a far cry from Google Maps or Telenav

For now, the advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantage so I'm sticking with 4.5. If you absolutely rely on your BB, keep 4.2.2 on there until US carriers start releasing 4.5.

Google Maps v2.2.0 and v2.2.1 both working fine here on all OS4.5 releases I have tried to-date.

May I add my comments (or complaints) now.

So, I've had 4.5 for a few hours. Previously had 4.2 and felt like checking for an upgrade. What did I find? Latest OS: 8800 4.5...!

Good
+ Address Book & Calendar are updated w/ more settings
+ Media is much more customizable
+ Browser got a good upgrade

Bad
- Random resets (VERY FREQUENTLY)
- Unable to view pictures (resets when attempted)
- Occassional 'click' as if a sound is about to be played

As previously mentioned, it really does feel like a beta version.
Perhaps these 'new versions' should be screened before passed along?
Hope I can restore my phone... the process of upgrading to 4.5 gave me a nasty error and some of my theme settings were lost. :(

@shrienki: do you have a microS card? re Resets

If so, try removing it or reformatting it.

Edit : Err, reformat after backing it up...

I fail to see any difference in the new browser versus the "old" one.

Actually, you don't have to reformat the card as the card's file system isn't the problem (I think). I'm fairly positive that the problem is that the old hidden files that the 4.2 media browser leaves are incompatible with 4.5 for whatever reason. If you make hidden files visible and delete all the blackberry media temp files from every directory on the card that should clean up the problem. Once they are all gone os 4.5 will recreate anything it needs.

NO!

This is OS is for the 8800, which is why the first four lines of the first post above state three different times: "8800".

Read read read!

Hi,

I am starting to wonder if I should have gotten the 8820 :(

I don't find a lot of users or info on them, but I am new also!

Thanks
