Can I Transfer Ringtone from on BB to another?
Please Login to Remove!
I have a few custom ringtones on my 8700 BB and would like to have them on my new 8310. Is there a way to transfer these to my new blackberry?

go to the song click options and then hit send using bluetooth, make sure you already have your 8310 paired though.

This is what I am doing:
Media, Ringtones, Preloaded Ringtones - when I select one of the ringtones, it starts playing in the media player. when I then click on menu, there is no option to send or even receive using bluetooth.
on the preloaded ringtones screen, when I click on menu, there is only option to recv using bluetooth. no option to send again. When I click on options, I only get the refular options to choose from - sort by, sort direction, thumbnails per row, side show interval, device memory limit.

All the preloaded ringtones on the 8800 are on device memory/samples/ringtones folder. This folder doesn't show up at all in media manger.
You said I could also transfer to the memory card. How do I do this? I dont see this option anywhere.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8320)
You said custom ringtones... Does that mean you bought them or created them yourself?
If you bought them you might not be able to move them from the device they were bought on.
Transfering files using Bluetooth on a Blackberry is different than other devices. You do not pair devices first. I'm sure a Google search or the BBFAQ will have the details.

This is what our resident expert had to say:

Simply download and install one of those old OS's (any 4.2.0 OS for the Pearl will have it,) then go to the java folder and move the following .cod from that java folder to your current OS java folder. Once you copy it out of that folder you can go to Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs and uninstall that OS that you don't need (don't uninstall your current OS, though .) EDIT 02/23/2008: I just noticed that this tunebundle does not work well with some of the pre-release versions of 4.3.1. Not sure when the incompatibility began, so, you may not want to add this to 4.3 OS devices.
net_rim_bb_profiles_tunes_tunebundles_tunes8700g.c od
Once you've moved that into the current OS java folder then go back to your Blackberry.alx file and find the following:
<fileset Sound="Tunes8700g" Java="1.0">
<files>
net_rim_bb_media_tunebundles_sonicnetworks.cod
</files>
</fileset>
add the following so it looks like this:
<fileset Sound="Tunes8700g" Java="1.0">
<files>
net_rim_bb_media_tunebundles_sonicnetworks.cod
net_rim_bb_profiles_tunes_tunebundles_tunes8700g.c od
</files>
</fileset>
Now plug your device in, run application loader all the way through and you should have those old ringtones along with your new ones. (there may be a duplicate or two but, hey, you've freed up so much memory you can afford it, right?)

Unless you download your ringtones to the "music" section rather than nthe "ringtones" section there is no way of sending through bluetooth from ringtones menu.
